Killing Cyclists is not a Crime

This write up in the New York Times is a great read, albeit infuriating, read.  As cyclists we put our lives on the line everyday for all sorts of reasons.  We like to ride, it's a good way to get to work, we like to not drive a gas guzzling, humanity destorying automobile.  All sorts of great things happen when more people ride bikes.

But when we do get hit, there aren't any consequences for the driver.  The rules of the road seem to be that cyclists are fair game, because no matter what the driver does, as long as they aren't drunk, there are no consequences for running down a cyclist.  Total bullshit.
