This chapter covers detailed instruction on the functions and navigation of each menu element, use of the camera control interface, live remote-viewing setup, and firmware update procedures for the NVR and IP cameras. Refer to this chapter for specific instructions for advanced functions of the NVR. In order to properly follow instructions, please familiarize yourself with the following conventions. This is the main control component of your system. These are the recording and surveillance devices attached to the system. This is the storage component of your NVR system. We recommend Western Digital Caviar Green AV-GP hard drives or Seagate Pipeline hard drives that are specifically engineered for use in security camera environments. We also suggest that you make your purchase from an official reseller (such as Newegg.com, Tiger-Direct, and Best Buy) to ensure the quality of the HDD. Using a Phillips screwdriver, screw the provided screws into the holes. Apply the screws in the three holes on the back panel, and the two holes on the sides. NOTE: If you do not see this popup, please manually format your HDD by going to the Disk Drive Info page (for more instructions, please refer to 4.1 Main Menu Detailed). For detailed instruction, please refer to 3.2 Camera Installation. The following instructions will show you how to plug in the wires from the external system to the NVR. Give the wire a light tug to ensure that it is securely clamped. Once you have logged in, your system will attempt to add your cameras automatically. Please wait 3-5 minutes for this process to complete. If your system has not automatically added the cameras, proceed to step 4 for manual setup.If you were unable to perform any of the steps, please refer to 5.1 Troubleshooting in the user manual. Using a pencil and the holes in the mounting bracket as a guide, mark three holes against the wall where you wish to mount the camera. Place the anchor with the closed end evenly into the hole. Gently tap the open end until the anchor is almost flush with the wall. Fasten your camera to the mounting bracket using either the hole found on the top or bottom of the camera. Rotate until the camera is securely attached to the mounting bracket. Align your mounting bracket with the anchors and slowly screw the bracket onto the wall with the 3 screws provided. To adjust the camera position, loosen the nob on the bracket by turning it counterclockwise and adjust the camera accordingly. On the login screen, a Startup Wizard will appear to help you quickly setup your NVR. Please follow the on-screen instructions to quickly and easily configure basic settings on your NVR. If you do not enable this, you will need to manually input the date and time in the corresponding forms. There are several viewing options available locally on your NVR. By default it will be set to the quad-screen view with the live-video streams from all four camera feeds. To access the new quick-menu, move your cursor to the bottom of the screen using your mouse or press the menu button on your remote. Click on the new notification icon to view more details. Click on the icon to select the camera feed to view.Administrator permission will be required to shutdown. The following chapter will explain how to navigate and perform the features through the menu. This requires an internet connection. Each channel can display a specific channel name and the current time. In sequential viewing, the NVR will automatically cycle between certain channel feeds. You may change the duration of each sequence and select which feeds to cycle through under this menu. Such events could be, but are not limited to: a missing hard drive or hard drive failure, activated motion sensors, activated alarms, etc. Use this menu to review the system log of all event notifications. When the HDD has reached its storage capacity, the NVR will either stop recording or overwrite the older playback files. The overwrite feature is generally recommended. The system will automatically format the HDD. From this menu, you may enable the startup guide, change the display resolution, view system information, upgrade the NVR firmware and reset the system to factory default settings. The startup guide will appear the next time the system is powered on. The higher this value, the smoother and better the video quality is, however increasing this value also increases the bandwidth. VBR stands for the variable bit rate, and CBR stands for the constant bit rate—CBR is higher quality than variable, however it uses more bandwidth. Select an area by clicking and dragging down and to the right with your cursor. A gray box will appear. Remove the selected areas by right-clicking on the box.Unless you are an advanced user, we do not recommend that you change these settings. These definitions are not sufficient for manual networking and configuration. Router port-forwarding is required. Event Management This means that all recorded video files will be high quality, and the HDD will be able to store less footage at one time. During stationary scenes, the NVR will record at a lower framerate to optimize storage capacity. Please follow the following instructions in order to properly configure and setup the motion detection functions. The NVR allows you to set up to 4 different time periods for motion detection. To activate a time period, input the desired values and select the box to the right of the corresponding time period. Using the motion detection grid, define a motion detection area by left-clicking on a square. NOTE: The system will automatically record video when motion is detected. NOTE: The alarm will sound continuously while motion is being detected. The NVR comes with predefined server settings for common service providers, however you may need to specify your own settings if your provider is not included. Choose an email address using the specified service provider to send the email and input the corresponding password to the existing email address. For example, when set to 1 minute, the NVR will send an email notification every minute when motion is detected. The reolink go seemed to be the best option because by the road there is no power or network connection for a security camera. The only thing that made this camera only 4 stars was that it isn't intuitive on how to set up the cellular service for the camera. After some exchanges with reolink supoort, which was prompt and helpful I got the camera to work. You need to purchase a FreedomPop SIM card. The link to buy it from Amazon is below. Activate the Sim card on freedompop website. It will tell you you need to set up an APN. But it wasn't needed as far as I can tell. Once the camera was able to get a good cell signal I was able to connect to the camera through the reolink app. Hope this helps others set up the Sim card. It saves a few seconds when notion is detected. The SIM card below gets you three months unlimited service. It works great on the ATT network and gets 4G service where I have the camera. I also bought the solar panel to go with it. So far I haven't seen the battery drop below 98 and it's been pretty cloudy lately. All and all this was a good purchase and is meeting my needs of having a wireless security camera. Upgrading to 5 stars because the SIM card issue isn't really that much of an issue once you know what to do. However, after a month of using this camera I’ve discovered that most of the issues people seem to be having are more likely related to their data plans than the camera itself. It took a full 24 hours after installing the cellular card for the camera to begin working properly but once it did I have had absolutely NO problems. It’s worked amazingly. I love being able to check on my horse whenever I’m traveling or out of town.
Being able to live stream her from my phone is so awesome and having everything back up to the cloud has made it easy to check on specific time points. Don’t be scared off by the reviews, if the camera doesn’t work right off the bat, give the cellular card a day to connect with the network. I highly recommend this camera. I purchased a trac phone cellular card from Walmart, downloaded the app and I just add more data as needed from the tracphone app. Also, I didn’t purchase the solar panel to charge the camera, I’ve just left the charger plugged in since I had an outlet close to where I installed the camera.The building is several hours away so I just needed something to get a general idea of activity in the parking lot etc. Its mounted up on a light pole with the coordinating solar panel and over the past several months - it has kept itself charged with no issues. We have not had to touch it since it was installed about 9 months ago. It seems that most negative review are related to SIM card and the internet connection. Purchased the Cricket SIM and activated in my cell phone first. Once I moved it over to the camera, it immediately had a good connection and has never dropped out since. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is no way to schedule recordings or snapshots - you can have the camera automatically record to an SD car or the optional cloud service based on motion (you can adjust the sensitivity) and you can manually trigger recording or take still shots in the app. I did email customer service and they stated that none of their battery operated cameras can run on schedules or continuously due to concerns over battery life. With the solar panel and option to keep it plugged in via the charging cable, it is unfortunate that they don't offer this functionality at least when connected to either of these power sources. With that said, in my current application, live viewing was really what I needed and recordings are not critical.
There is also enough vehicle traffic nearby tripping the motion detection that I get a decent interval of recordings anyway. I am able to zoom in and can tell the difference between a sedan and an suv from well over 1,000ft from the camera and the areas closer to the camera on very clear - especially for something in this price range.
