New one posted for July 2017: my QC20s bit the dust. Truth is, a product rarely qualifies for that accolade. But knowing as much as I do about noise-cancelling technology, I would not have believed that what Bose has accomplished with the QC20 series was even possible. In fact, I'd say they've created the best all-around earphone or headphone on the market today for everyday use with portable music players. If audiophile sound quality is your top priority, then look elsewhere, as both my Etymotic 4PT and Shure 530 series earphones sound better than the QC20s. However, those better-sounding 'phones have other drawbacks in actual use (more on that later), and they now sit in a drawer while the QC20s go with me everywhere. Bottom line: if you're looking for the best noise-cancelling on the market today, bar none, combined with very good sound, the ultimate in comfort and convenience, all in a very small, lightweight package, the QC20 is for you. This review will focus on a comparison of the QC20 with the QC15, as well as with the Etymotic 4PT and the Shure ES530, all of which I currently own and have used for some time. Noise-cancelling: The QC20 is signifcantly better than my QC15. Look, I've used Bose QC headphones for years, but the QC20 actually made me gasp the first time I turned on its noise-cancelling circuit. My QC15s are going up for sale today. Sound Quality: The sound of the QC20 is incrementally better than the QC15, but still lags behind the better in-ear 'phones like my Ety 4PT and Shure ES530. To my ears (Your Ears May Vary), the QC20 sound a bit veiled by comparison, and while the bass is certainly there, its quality and tightness just isn't as good. Plus, there are the drawbacks to the in-ear canal earphones: they silence outside sounds almost completely, which I find dangerous when walking the streets of NYC.http://www.branchennachweis.eu/userfiles/bosch-intuikey-keyboard-user-manual.xml

Also, with the Ety 4PT, I hear the microphonic thumping sound of the cable hitting my body when I walk--not as bad as earlier generations of the Ety cable, but still there. Finally, neither of these in-ear 'phones are comfortable for long-term wear, such as a cross-country flight. Again, Your Ears May Vary, but I have to remove them after a couple of hours. Comfort: My QC15 headphones are certainly comfortable, but the soft silicone of the QC20 ear tips rest so comfortably against your ear openings that you simply forget you're wearing them at all. Most importantly, the Bose StayHear design of the tips keeps them in place, which is a huge deal for me. I have never been able to wear any ear bud design (and I think I've tried them all) because they fall out too easily. The Bose remain secure, but without force that would cause discomfort. The QC20s come with medium tips installed, but also include small and large sizes in the box. The earphones store in a soft pouch that measures just 2.75 x 5 inches and they weigh next to nothing. As nice as the storage case is for the QC15, it just looks huge by comparison. That end cable is just long enough to allow for easy folding of the bar against the back of your phone or music player and easy insertion into your pocket. Includes a super lightweight lithium battery that runs for 16 hours on just a 2-hour charge from USB. (Bose includes the required USB to micro-USB charging cable.) The earphones will continue to function with a dead battery, but without noise-cancelling and with somewhat degraded sound quality.Design Flaw: The silicone eartips do not simply slide on and off the earphones. There are two slots cut into the silicone that fit over two small plastic tabs on the earphones and hold the eartips firmly in place. When trying to change the medium eartips to the small ones, I broke one of those tabs, and this was after reading the instructions, and following them as closely as I could.http://superbia.lgbt/flotaganis/1649224063

Bose provided an immediate exchange for me, so no problem there, but if you buy the QC20 and need to change the eartip size, I'd recommend getting on the phone with Bose customer service, which is superb, and let them guide you. One final tip: if you buy directly from Bose, either online or at one of their stores.Use the 'phones all you want and, if you're not satisfied after a month, just return them for a full refund. Since new models of Bose products are never discounted anywhere, that risk-free trial is a big advantage to buying direct. Just be prepared for the fact that you will NOT be sending these earphones back!;-) Bottom line: overall, the QC20s are five star earphones with an asterisk due to the plastic tab design. Thanks for taking the time to read my review and I hope you find it helpful in making a buying decision. Again, if you look at the second post in the comments section, you will find my updates to this original review.I wanted something that was compact with great sound quality. These headphones really fit the bill until.I use a wider hard sided case than the one Bose provides because I wanted these to last a long time. In about two years, the wiring adjacent to the headphone jack has started separating and there is a constant buzz sound because of it. I understand there are lots of “disposable” electronics out there, but I wanted these to be a bit more. I’ve had lots of Bose products over the years, but these seem to be Chinese made garbage. Sorry. The noise cancellation feature is great, I barely hear anything else. The warranty is 1 year, and my credit card extends it to another year, a total of 2 years. It died in 25 months of usage, which falls outside of the extended warranty period. I don't use it very often, but occasionally from time to time. One day, it just stopped working. The light turns on when I turn on the noise cancel feature, but there is no audio (with or without noise cancel) nor does the noise cancellation work.http://astucesvoyages.com/images/bose-2201-manual.pdf

I took care of the earphone really well, no drops nor water damage. There was no sign of declension, so I was very shocked to find that it malfunctioned one day.It is surreal the way these completely isolate you from the outside world, it almost feels like what astronauts would feel being in space. I remember the same sensation with the QC15 headphones when I first tried them, and these are even more special because they are in ear headphones. I did send these back, because the package arrived and it seems someone tried them, sent them back and left some evidence of use. Nevertheless these are incredible but I personally can't justify these for the cost and use I would do of them. I also can't justify buying headphones with a battery that has no estimated life span and no option to replace by yourself. I believe that the future for this type of headphone is wiring that is not fixed. Instead they should have disconnects, like IEM to allow you to remove and replace the battery when needed. Aside from this, the headphones don't sound amazing, they are balanced, but nothing special. If you travel, especially on airplanes, these are awesome and will help you relax and separate you from the constant sounds. Furthermore, the colors used by Bose on the wires look cheap in my opinion, and the whole construction is quite cheap considering what you are paying for. The silicon tips and extension are great, they almost make you forget you have them on, but the actual headphones protrude quite a bit so this could prove uncomfortable when resting your head on the side. If Bose actually used better quality materials and offered a plausible solution for the battery these would be easier to purchase for someone who isn't buying these only to travel.Sound intermittently comes out one ear or the other. Lots of popping and cracking noises. The seller, Rocket Service, will not accept a return as the return period as expired.

As before you have in cable controls, with an extra button which switches between full noise cancelling and an ambient one - which apparently voices are cancelled but the indecipherable tannoy announcements in stations etc aren't. Given that no-one can actually work out if indeed a train is coming in from Bangor, Bangkok or just Bank, you might as well just leave it on full cancellation. The cancellation is as good as the over ear headset - the QC15 - and the sound is almost, but not quite as good, although my pair may need more wearing in. I experimented with all 3 size buds and while the smallest make my ears tire the least, they still tire. Shame as they would be good for long haul flights, but as it is you'd need to give them a 15-30 minute rest I believe. Construction is still very good, but the cost is still a lot really but the noise cancellation, if you really need it (and I do, as I really don't care to hear other people discuss sport, politics or the neighbour's cat) then they are a good purchase - I certainly prefer the sound of these compared to my Shure 425's.

Sorry, we failed to record your vote.

Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again And by happy, I mean have headphones and then say to themselves that these are it. So what was I looking for in headphones. They should be loud, I should be able to use them in the gym, there should be no fatigue after wearing for 2 hours, they should be easily portable, they should not cost more than 10,000, they should not be easy to break and most importantly, they shouldn’t be easy to lose. Of course I realise many of these demands of mine are unrealistic. But I was determined, for many years to find the perfect headphones. The ones where I feel ok, there is justice in this world.

My JBL Tempo’s are very uncomfy after an hour My Sennheiser 598SE’s are extremely unportable and don’t block outside sound My Kinivo BT 240’s aren’t loud enough (but extremely cheap) My Nokia, Motorola are barely tolerable. Apple,Samsung need not even apply. THE AFTERMATH Why Bose. It was my birthday so I wanted my sister to get me something I normally would not buy myself. Something that is expensive. Something that I deem as unworthy of being purchased but hey its a gift so what can one do. I do this every once a year. I did this with my Macbook Pro Retina (in 2015) and now I just did this with my Bose Qc 20i. Are these loud enough. Yes, especially with the noise isolation 80 loud enough (good enough) Are these comfy? Yes. 75 yes. 25 no How much did they cost. Rs 15,120 (way over my 10k budget) Is the wiring too long or too short. The wiring is neither long nor short but sometimes it does make a sound when Im running Is the battery brick too big. Yes, it is definitely annoying but I can live with it How long have I had these. I waited 30 days before writing a review. Used them on 21 days. Are they worth the money? Mostly yes. Am I happy with them. Yes, they take little space, I can block anyone out. I don’t have to listen to annoying gym music anymore. I don’t have to ask people in house to pipe down cause Im concentrating on something. Amazing Facts about these headphones - - Sometimes I use then when I am reading. I don’t play any music but I just switch the sound cancellation on and boom 75 of outside noises is reduce and a tunnel like silence is emanating from these - The battery lasts long enough for 2 weeks to go by. Charges using micro USB. - This is my FAVOURITE FACT and feature of these headphones. When my wife is asleep I can wear them, there is ZERO noise that is filtered out of these unlike other headphones. So you can have them on loud blast but there is no NOISE ESCAPE. This feature is oscar worthy and really very good.

For example, if you’re on an airplane and have your music turned to 100 no sound escapes so others are not disturbed. I hate being rude so this is really good.\ -The sound is very neutral. There is no extra bass, no extra treble, no extra impression other than the one the artist wanted you to hear - I don’t use any of headphones anymore. When the light starts flashing green, I know its time to charge - Even without noise isolation feature turned on, these headphones are very very good. Disadvantages - - The headphones are good but I carry two mobile phones so having the mini-battery brick doesn't help. - The noise isolation won't work if you're in a factory with machines. In other terms it isn't divine. - The L and R are anything but easy to locate and every time I have to find the correct one (minor annoyance) - No other disadvantages. What devices do I use it with. My macbook, my iPhone, my iPad and my Note 5. What music do I hear. Therefore these are perfect. The best set of headphones I have ever owned. If they last me 2 years, i'll be very happy. One of my really good friends owns the QC20i pair for 2 years now. He absolutely loves it. But he is the kind of person who takes care of his things because he owns just one or two pairs of earphones. Roughly 9-10 months have passed. The cord is good, there is some deteriotation but acceptable. Where has it been deteriorated. The part that you put into the year, the plastic has an oily shine to it. This was never the case before. But i have noticed this recently. The battery lasts a very long time even when the light is flasing and asking you to charge the earphones.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. As well as updating its over ear QC25 s with the wireless QC35 s, it's also cut the cord of its in-ear headphones with the release of the QC30 s. But there's still one very important reason you might want to consider the older QC20i headphones, and that's the fact that the newer QC30 headphones don't supported wired operation at all. We appreciated the fact that in a smartphone marketplace that is no longer dominated by Apple that Bose offers multiple versions of the QuietComfort 20: the 20i (the version we tested) boasts a three-button inline remote that works with iOS devices and lets you do everything from controlling the volume, skipping forward and backward in a playlist, pause and resume music and answering and ending calls.

There's also a button to toggle Aware Mode (more about that later) on and off. The standard one-button QuietComfort 20 works with Android, Windows and Blackberry devices. We took the Bose QuietComfort 20i on several trips across the states and we were blown away by the technological advancements that Bose has made to both noise-cancellation as well as comfort. The silicone ear tips are designed to sit comfortably in the ear while also sealing the ear canal. What this means is that the QuietComfort 20 manages to actually stay rather firmly in your ear while not being uncomfortable during those extended listening sessions. In fact, you can pull on the cable and the QuietComfort 20s won't fall out. Being noise canceling in-ear headphones, the QuietComfort 20s require power and this is where the one downside (aside from the price) comes into play. There's a relatively large inline module that contains the rechargeable lithium ion battery and the power switch as well as the MicroUSB port (for charging) and lights for Aware Mode, Charge, and Power. The QuietComfort 20 charges via MicroUSB and you can charge it fully in around two hours. Once fully charged Bose claims that you can expect about 16 hours from a single charge. In our tests we never ran out of battery power. The QuietComfort 20 uses TriPort technology and an Active EQ to achieve what amounts to some rather amazing noise canceling. That said there's more to these headphones than that. We liked Boasting amazing noise canceling technology and incredible sound, the QuietComfort 20 is also extremely comfortable. Also, the battery module is huge and in our tests it always felt weird. Do you let it hang out of your pocket or do you tuck it into your pocket. We've been using the QuietComfort 20s for weeks and we have yet to find a decent solution. Verdict The Bose QuietComfort 20s are easily some of the best sounding in-ear noise canceling headphones we've ever put through their paces.

I have to admit, it is very nice to be able to change seats without being out of the sweet spot. That particular Bose trade-off wouldn’t suit my mood all the time, just as headphones don’t, but in the bedroom it did the trick nicely. As it happens, I only have my ProAc Tablette 2000 speakers on hand. They’re similar in size, with a similar size bass driver. I switched between the living room system and the bedroom system anyway, playing the same tracks on both for comparison. As you’d expect, the ProAcs embarrassed the Bose 201s in every conceivable way. I won’t even waste your time going into detail. WHAT ARE THE 201s GOOD FOR. It’s no secret I like the cute little Initial DMA-710 DVD mini-system. And by extrapolation, I’d imagine mini-systems from Denon, Yamaha and others would probably trounce its pleasing but modest performance by a fair margin. I’m equally sure that Bose has considered all that and decided, based on their market research, that costly improvements would yield little in the way of noticeable improvement for the vast majority of customers. In fairness, some of my favorite speakers of all time used paper cones and modest connection terminals. Still, I remain gravely concerned about the durability of the 201’s paper cones and surrounds over the long haul. CONCLUSIONS Bose haters complain that the company dishonestly bills its speakers as the finest available. Well, what company doesn’t claim their products are the best. In a competitive marketplace, it would be stupid not to. In the case of the 201s, Bose doesn’t promise a life-changing listening experience. All they claim is that they are a good choice for the bedroom, dorm room, garage or vacation home. They are. Are the 201s overpriced. Depends on how you look at it. For example, the Volkswagen GTI VR6 and Ford Crown Victoria cost about the same. One is fast, precise and high-tech; the other, big, comfy and technologically challenged.
