Diamondback Bicycles 2014 Century Disc Road Bike

Where Would You Ride a Century Disc?

The Diamondback Century Disc is a great all around road bike meant for short and long rides. Whether you commute, participate in organized and/or charity rides, want to hit the road with friends, or looking for a trusty steed to ride around the neighborhood the Century Disc will keep you in comfort without skimping on performance.

Disc Brakes on a Road Bike?

Over the years disc brakes have become the norm in mountain biking for many reasons. Disc brakes stop better in variable conditions such as wet and dirt, the braking ability is not affected if a rim is bent or out of true, rims are not worn down over time by having brake pads rubbing against them, and disc brakes allow for better modulation of brake control while slowing/stopping. The Century Disc, however, takes all those advantages found with disc brakes and puts them on a road bike.

What is Enhanced Performance Geometry (EPG)?

At Diamondback we believe that performance and comfort don't have to be mutually exclusive - enter the Century frame with Enhanced Performance Geometry. The Century frame retains all the handling and ride characteristics of Diamondback's race models, but features a slightly higher head tube to put the rider in a more upright riding position. This will put less strain on a rider's back and neck. It will also improve the fit for riders with marginally less pelvic rotation and core stability.

The Specs for the Century Disc Include:

  • Diamondback's disc brake road frame with Enhanced Performance Geometry (EPG) will help keep your neck and back more comfortable on rides without sacrificing the performance and handling one comes to expect from a high performance machine. The tapered head tube helps keep the bike responsive allowing it to better react to the riders movements.
  • DBR AAMP disc brake carbon road fork is one of the stiffest forks available, but still soaks up road vibrations carbon forks are known for.
  • Avid, road specific, mechanical disc brakes helps the bike stop quickly in all conditions including rain.
  • Shimano Tiagra dual control shifter/brake levers paired with the Tiagra front derailleur and Shimano 105 rear derailleur will keep the chain moving smoothly through the gears.
  • FSA Vero Compact crank has 2 chainrings (50/34 tooth) and the rear cassette has 10 cogs (12-30 tooth) giving you 20 different speeds to choose from while riding.
  • DB Equation double wall rims with alloy disc hubs are strong enough to keep rolling down the road.
