The Bosch kitchen mixer is uniquely designed with its motor below the bowl and out of the way, making it more compact, lightweight, weighing less than half what its competitors do, and easier for you to add ingredients and see inside the bowl as you're mixing. Dual wire whips spin independently as they rotate around the bowl, creating triple whipping action and allowing you to whip as little as one egg white into over a cup of meringue. Wire whips are designed to aerate light or pourable mixtures and batters, mash cooked potatoes, or shred hot, cooked meats in seconds. The heavy-duty dough hook is designed to mimic the motions of hand kneading to stretch, tuck, and fold the dough for maximum gluten development, kneading 100 of the dough every 4 rotations around the bowl. Knead as little as one loaf of bread (3 cups flour) or up to 14 1-pound loaves, with either white or whole grain flour.http://mariondhuique-mayer.com/data/3m-speedglas-9002x-manual.xml

The powerful belt-driven transmission delivers adequate torque to knead light or heavy loads without overheating or bogging down. The dough hook can also mix up to 34 dozen cookies in a single batch. Four suction feet on the base grip the mixer to your counter and provide optimum stability. Choose from 4 speeds with pulse. Convenient cord storage. 6.5-quart bowl locks in place and has a removable drive shaft for easy cleaning. Bowl, lid, pouring shield, and wire whips are dishwasher safe; dough hook is hand-wash only. The manual for both models includes blender images and instructions, even though a blender is not included with this model.Amazon calculates a product’s star ratings based on a machine learned model instead of a raw data average. For instance, the wire whisks are just for mixing eggs and liquids, the cookie and cake paddles are just for thin batters, and the large metal dough hook is for everything else. The accessory paddles are plastic but they are quite robust. The 'problem', if you could call it that, is that the mixer motor is so powerful, 800 watts, that the torque tends to damage or destroy the plastic and thin metal parts if you use them with stiff batters, cold butter or mixes with hard ingredients like chocolate chips and nuts. The photos of the the mixer showing chocolate chip cookie batter being mixed with the wire whisks or cookie paddles is misleading. The instructions clearly explain that they aren't supposed to be used that way. Maybe the marketing people should have spoken to the engineering folks before putting those photos out.http://www.diamondsinthemaking.com/content/3m-x30-user-manual

So the problem of the accessories breaking isn't because they are defective, but instead because the mixer motor is so strong. If used as directed, the accessories should work just fine. The new machine has had constant problems with multiple paddles breaking, not spinning properly and literally metal parts bending. I will give the company an A for customer service in replacing the broken paddles and eventually the bowl, but since that replacement part, the machine is still not working and they told me to return it to Amazon. I'm super disappointed in the quality of the new machines. My aunt's just died after FORTY YEARS. Quality today is not the same. I would not recommend a Bosch mixer. Sadly. This is the best mixer ever. I can do HUGE batches of cookies and scones and such. The only bummer is that I have to switch beaters after creaming the softer ingredients (adding flour and dry ingredients makes the dough too stiff for the creamer beaters). But I've gotten better and remembering to switch. This is SO much easier to use than my big Kitchen Aid. And much neater (less flour fluffing out!!). I highly recommend this mixer especially for bigger batches of foods. The Bosch just kneads the dough like it's nothing. My only slight negatives: It's taken some time to get the dough right (not too wet or dry). It seems to need less liquid than the stand mixer did. It does better with bigger batches. So when I do bread, I prefer to do 4 loaves (double batch). I am still learning (after 3 months) how long to knead the bread so it's not tough; the Bosch is efficient!I make bread a couple of times a week and the kitchenaid either wasn't big enough (I use 10 cups flour) or you have to use the one with the bowl lift, which I did not like, it wasn't user friendly. Just got this one this morning and I whipped up a batch if my dough.https://estacionsurmadrid.avanzagrupo.com/images/bosch-microwave-oven-user-manual.pdf

So far I'm very impressed with how easily every thing comes apart, how well it incorporates the dough and I'm thrilled that it has suction feet and doesn't dance on the counter. I think I'll be keeping this one! It's 800 watt motor and strong transmission make it ideal for stiff doughs like bagels and Brioche and its bowl is simply enormous. My complaints are that it is a pain to clean (you'll need a toothbrush) as the central plastic shaft has decorative, spiral notches molded into it which trap food particles easily yet are so deeply recessed a scrubby won't access them. There are additional plastic notches on the bowl's interior designed to anchor the lid. These too trap food and are difficult to easily clean. Also, the provided documentation is lame. Many serious bakers need to know the number of revolutions per minute at first and second speeds. Good luck finding that on the Internet or in the spec sheets. I suppose I'll grow into the machine but it seems to me the engineers at Bosch have a good idea but need to twink it more.I bake at least every 2 weeks. The mixer functioned well for the first 15-16 months but then the motor started bogging down and not mixing well at all. I called the company and ended up having to send it back at my expense. They told me it was the transmission, which they replaced. The machine worked great the first time I used it after the repair, but I just used it again for the second time and it is acting up again. I’m very disappointed since this machine was so much money, and it’s the only one I found that would handle my dough. My Kitchenaid was not powerful enough. I wouldn’t buy again.Bosch mixers are the superlative mixer for your kitchen. We replaced it with this new upgraded model and I have to say I'm impressed. Though more streamlined with a smaller footprint, none of the Bosch quality has been sacrificed.

I was nervous switching over to Bosch and during unboxing started to think I had picked the wrong machine. It looked extremely complicated. After sitting down with the user manual I decided to give it a chance. Over the years I've gone through multiple brands of mixers with some being better than others but always avoiding any really heavy items or bread dough knowing they couldn't handle it. After a few weeks I'm certain this was the best decision ever. I've been making multiple loaves of bread and rolls per week without fear on top of other duties like meatloaf or cheese balls. The more dough you make the happier the machine is. After 10 straight minutes of kneading heavy dough it's barely even warm- if warm at all. Doesn't strain, doesn't grind, doesn't whine. Just happily keeps going. The paddles and whips work so quickly mixes get done in half the time.

I purchased the small dough hook, bowl scraper attachment, and cookie paddles with metal driver at the same time. All were well worth the investment. The bowl scraper works beautifully as it's scraping both the inside column and outer bowl at the same time during mixing. The small dough hook (grey heavy duty plastic, goes under metal dough hook) is for batches of dough under about 4 loaves worth. It keeps the dough from wrapping around the column so it can knead properly. To Address Some Common Concerns: The machine itself is made in Slovenia. This is the same location where all warranty or customer service issues are handled. I called them with a question and someone (a real human!) answered the phone right away. Zero hold time. They were very knowledgeable about what I needed, professional and kind. They made it very clear if I ever have any problems with my machine, accessories, or any other questions to call immediately. The machine is much easier to use than I had anticipated. It snaps together quickly and much of it is dishwasher safe. You absolutely need to read the user manual first if you are like me and have zero experience with this type of machine. Replacement parts are readily available with plenty of tutorials online should you have issues after the warranty has ended or just have questions about how something works. The machine comes with white food grade shortening covering some parts. I thought this was a sloppy mistake from factory during unboxing but later learned it's on purpose. It washes off with warm soapy water which you'll be doing before first use anyway. The factory does it to lubricate parts outside of the base and keep them in good condition during storage since they have no idea how long it might sit in a warehouse before being bought. The motor is totally encased in the bottom. It would be difficult to get anything down in there. Wipe the base with a warm rag and avoid any harsh detergents. If you need soap use a mild dish soap.

The ink used is environmentally friendly and if you spray it with something like Clorox it will deteriorate. Obviously, this part is not machine washable and you shouldn't submerge it. The metal part through the center column is not machine washable but clicks out super easy. Only the very top will touch any food. You hand wash it or rub it clean with a rag if you've only used it lightly. User manual suggests vegetable oil on a q-tip to keep the bottom in good condition and moving freely. Use vegetable shortening if you have any strange clicking, squeaking, or rubbing on accessories. Sometimes when they are new it can happen and at the speed Bosch goes it's normal. A quick rub of shortening will lubricate until everything is broken in. Personally I did not have this issue but have read others sometimes do. The column covers most everything and if something did slide down the shaft it's not a big deal. Again, the machine motor is sealed and a little spill here or there won't ruin anything. The lid works great. I love having access to the bowl and when I bloom yeast for bread I use this to keep the heat in with a kitchen towel over top. After a dough comes together remove the splash ring. It's not meant to hang out while you have 10 cups of flour getting slapped around in there. The dough will come up over the brim and that's okay. The dough hook will pull it back and keep it going. That's normal and not a design flaw. Because the bowl is slightly flexible (even the stainless steel) it helps release some of the torque so you don't burn out the motor. It might look odd and sound concerning but it's totally fine and is actually better for the machine long term. Yes there are a good bit of plastic accessories and parts in the machine. Because the items are made in the US with exception of motor base, they would double in price if they did all stainless steel.

Personally I recommend getting a metal driver and ditching the plastic driver for anything but whipped cream or similar. The paddles themselves are made of heavy duty plastic- even heavier than my food processor - and are great. I've used them on cold cream cheese with no problems. Again make sure you read the user manuals on everything and understand what each paddle is for and what it can take. Without a handle and a column in the way sometimes this bowl feels like I'm trying to cradle a boulder. Currently looking at my own solution like a silicone strap that would go around. Everything else I love. Just the lack of a handle makes life difficult. In short if you are looking for a real kitchen machine and are sick of weak gears breaking on standard mixers I really recommend giving Bosch a try. I really wish I had bought one earlier. I would have saved myself serious money on all the stand mixers I've had to toss because they wore out on small jobs. It's so nice looking through my cookbooks and feeling like I can try any recipe without worry of my machine breaking.Went to unbox it in anticipation of making some cookie dough. Well, apparently someone else had already used the mixer as there was quite a bit of flour on the lid and some type of food in the bowl. Gross! Oh and a broken plastic piece that I’m not sure where it was from. Returning this and purchasing directly from Bosch.Used it to make bread, first time it did not work well because I tried to make one loaf without the dough hook extender. Once I bought it, it worked well. Easy to see and no need to lift up and down like with the Kitchen Aid. Also easy to clean.I was dismayed to find icing on the inside of the pot and attachment. It was sticky and got all over my hands. This mixer was clearly used before and the previous owner didn't even bother to clean it before returning it to the seller. She has worn out the worm gear on her Kitchen Aid mixer twice in the last four years.

Bosch is known for making heavy duty devices and this mixer does not disappoint. It does not look as pretty on the counter compared to the kitchen aid but if you are doing lots of mixing you need this!I can't wait to use this more and really put the capacity to the test. Highly, highly recommend!!I was able to mix twice the amount in a quarter of the time it took me before. It also stores in a much smaller space in my kitchen cabinet. Not enough room hereto say enough good things about this mixer! With Bosch's instruction manuals. No big deal, just something different from many other saws. It didn't cause me a problem at all in testing and in use. The cast and machined scale themselves will never wear off! This is all done with one hand easily. This can make it a little tricky to fine tune an angle setting at times, say for going from 25 degrees to 22.5 or even 26 degrees, but its a minor issue and you get better with a little more nudging action and practice. No real drama here. These are the positive stop settings for common miter angles. When locked in one of these positions, there is no free-play at all. Very useful indeed! Nothing unusual here. It's virtually the same with most other miter saws except the bevel angle gauge is situated on the front on the main pivoting saw assembly here, meaning you don't have to lean over the saw or walk around to the back of the saw to find or check your bevel angle setting. A well thought-out feature. Some where ever so slightly out, but this was probably due to a bit of blade deflection when cutting through thicker pieces of wood.Engaging the bevel detent pin just above and to the right of the bevel locking screw will allow you to set a bevel angle of 33.9 degrees which is commonly used for cutting crown molding corners. I cannot verify the accuracy of this detent setting at this stage as we didn't have any crown molding available. We did try to replicate it with some scrap wood and to the best of our ability, it seemed to produce an accurate result. Many other miter saw manufacturers could take a leaf out of the Bosch design book in this area that is for sure. What are the sliding base extensions you ask. Well, these are small extendable tables that are featured on both ends of the saw table that you can release with a hex-style wrench and extend out laterally. When in the bevel cutting mode with the saw tipped to the left, there is much less hand clearance for the user in relation to the blade in this position.

Extending out these bases provides more room for the operator to place their hands to hold down material. A good safety feature. The sliding fence is held in place by a locking lever that is easily accessed at the back of the fence. Having a sliding fence is very handy to provide good support to the workpiece no matter what position the saw is in, and also helps prevent chip-out on the back of the piece when cutting through it. The right side fence does not have this slide feature, but does have a machined, inset measure which allows you to quickly measure the length of material to be cut.You could clamp one to either of the fences quite easily for cutting shorter pieces, but for longer pieces you will need to purchase the extension bars (which comes with its own little stop block) or set the saw up on a dedicated miter station equipped with a stop if you want to cut many longer lengths of timber to the same size quickly and easily. What does come standard with this saw is a metal quick-action clamp for securing the workpiece to the saw table for cutting. The clamp easily slots into any of the 6 available clamp support positions machined in the base. In testing, the clamp provided adequate support to the lumber being cut and worked as we would expect it to. No problems there! Connect a vacuum or dust collection machine to the port instead of the standard dust bag and you will increase your chances of catching a little more, but it still won't be adequate for indoor workshop use. You can either use a suitable dust mask indoors and be prepared to clean up later or if you are using the miter saw in a dedicated saw station, rig up a dust collection frame around the back of the saw hooked up to your dust collector. This will ensure maximum dust collection capability. The bag will collect a little and it is better than nothing, but like every miter saw on the market, it's really not that practical by itself.
