Christopher D Engel 5.0 out of 5 stars Don't be the next injury. Don't try to push the dispenser out from the front using brute force. There's a much easier and safer way by using bread bag tabs and pulling the dispenser IN from the inside. I can't take credit for the overall idea (wish I could find the original poster who used Popsicle sticks) but the bread tabs work well and make removal easy. Panel access and wire disconnect. 1. Disconnect the dishwasher from electricity 2. Open the door so that it is parallel to the floor and support the front face so that it does not drop. 3. Remove the torx screws holding the stainless steel panel and the front panel together. As you remove the screws, the weight of the front face will no longer hold the door down against the closing spring tension. Be careful to keep the stainless inner panel from retracting. Do not let the panels separate too far until you have all the wires disconnected from the dispenser or you risk breaking the wires off at the connector and have an entirely different problem on your hands. Having a helper tasked with just holding the door helps immensely. Alternatively, jam something between the washer and the inner panel to keep it from closing. Be careful not to lift the front panel by the top as the control panel will separate. If it does, fit it back in place. 4. Once the panels are separated, disconnect the wires in this sequence: lower right, wire harness around, middle left, top. Each of the connectors has a locking tab to hold them in place. So with a micro-sized screwdriver or similar tool, lift the lock tab and remove the connector. Pull on the connector, not the wires.

Leave the wires in the plastic harness, and they'll go back together in reverse order. 5. With the front panel now completely disconnected from the inner stainless panel, lay the front panel on the floor sideways so that it's out of the way and there's no tension on the wires which will still be connected as a bundle under the washer. Old unit removal 1. The dispenser is held in place by the infamous metal tabs originating from the stainless inner door panel.Note: You'll only work with the bottom and side metal tabs and do nothing with the top tab. Once the sides and bottom are free, the dispenser is designed to pull out from the bottom first. 2. Find 5 bread bag tabs (I only had three so I had to cut them like the picture). Release the tension on the metal tab and the plastic will remain wedged in place. This will keep the metal tab from returning back to its original spot holding the dispenser in. Be slow and gentle, and don't permanently bend or tear the metal tab. 4. Once all five tabs have been inserted in their place, simply reach inside the dishwasher and PULL the bottom edge of the dispencer IN TOWARDS THE INSIDE of the dishwasher. Make sure you retrieve any of them that flew inside the dishwasher. But behold! you're now holding the dispenser clear of the dishwasher, and there's no blood to clean up. New Unit Prep 1. With a damp rag, clean up the area where the dispenser gasket seals with the stainless inner door panel. 2. Take a bit of rinse aid and moisten the gasket on the new dispenser. 3. Make sure that none of the metal tabs have been overly bent. If you were carefull inserting the bread tabs they shouldn't look bent at all.New unit installation 1. Insert the top of the new dispenser through the hole and behind the metal tab strip at the top of the hole. You'll meet with increasing resistence until you hear the metal tabs click into place around the sides and bottom.

Once they are all engaged give it one more firm steady push to ensure a tight seal between the dispenser and the stainless steel panel. It should now be as secure as the original was. 3. Bring the front panel back up to the inner panel (supporting the bottom to a good height helps here) so the wires are in reach of the dispenser. 4. Reconnect the wires in the reverse order that they were disconnected. 5. Give the dispenser one final review to make sure its secure, sealed and all the wires are connected 6. Screw the front panel back on to the stainless steel inner panel making sure that the seals are inplace and the panels are centered. 7. Reconnect the electricity. 8. Turn the unit on, reset (start button 3 seconds). If all the wires were connected to the right spots, your dishwasher's been fixed. I had to turn the power off and on twice, but no issues afterwards. The soap dispenser was all caked up with soap and so hard I could no longer clean it out. The Rinse AID side was also leaking when refilling. I replaced this and the water inlet valve too. The hardest part was taking the door panel off and the top control panel. There are many vids on youtube to help with the how-to. I cleaned up the inside and now the soap dispenser is is nice and clean after the running a cycle with no residue. There is a filter element on the water inlet value and you can take a look inside once you remove the treaded elbow that connect to the water line without removing the part. Look in there and if it has gunk in it, replace it too.Once part was replaced my problem of rinse agent residue on clean dishes was solved. This is the second part I have replaced on my Bosch dishwasher. The other part was the door springs. I found a video on the internet for that part. I am a senior lady but had no issues with the part replacement. I will not buy another Bosch dishwasher. The dishwasher is used at the most three times a week.

I have owned dishwashers for (50) years and one other time had to replace one part. Bosch has been (2) parts in (5) years!I was fortunate enough to stumble across a YouTube video that mentioned using dimes to hold each clip open as you open them one at a time with a flat-blade screwdriver. Also, having a 5.5 inch high support under the opened door helps to hold the front as you unscrew it So far, it is working. In all the youtube videos, there are none I could find with this exact part. They mostly say you just need to remove the front panel. For my model, when I tried to install with only the front panel removed, I couldn't get a good seal between the part the the dishwasher and it leaked. I then removed the top bezel as well. It made it a lot easier to install. For me the trick was to install the bottom portion of the dispenser first (and get that to lock in with the tabs), then seat the top. I've included a picture of what it looks like without the top bezel on to show how much easier it is to access. The gasket sticks so force is needed to move the unit and it gives all at once with your hand hitting one of the many very sharp tabs.It comes with no instructions. I searched the internet for instructions and videos and was able to replace the part. This part worked perfectly and fixed the issue. We did the repair ourselves and saved a service call!It was not hard to do and only took a few minutes.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Sorry, we failed to record your vote. If your dishwasher model was released annually to the same hype as most mobile phones are every year, the release date would be ingrained in your memory even if you're not a fan of that particular model and never planned to get one. It is also handy to know the year for insurance purposes. This information will come in handy if you need to buy any spare parts or, again, if your dishwasher develops a fault and needs to be serviced.

Inside the door or on the side panel of your dishwasher, you will find strings of numbers and letters hopefully still legible after years of use. One of these numbers is beginning with the letters FD. This is the serial number you're looking for. Ignore all these number but the first four. The last two digits represent the month. The production month is February. In that case, ignore the first digit, giving you the year 02 (2002) and the month 05 (May). She writes about education, parenting and linguistic technology. Do you use only the top rack or the lower rack. Now, at least here in Europe, Bosch changed the way this option works: the overall cycle time and water consumption is reduced (for example the prewash or extra rinses are canceled), yet you can (loosely) load both baskets. Both racks were used along with third flatware rack on top; just half of the usual size load. Everything came out great. My second choice was a front load LG set that was on sale, which I have now had for over a year. I am very happy with it; no complaints, and most importantly, clothes come out clean. I do wipe around the rubber seal and dry the soup dispenser when I am finished with the laundry. There is a small access door at the bottom of the washer which is where a small drain hose and lint filter are located. I periodically clean the lint filter and drain any standing water in the small hose. It's easy to do and takes very little time. The washer door is designed that it can be left open slightly ajar so that the interior can dry. I also do not use liquid fabric softeners. After a year of regular use I have had no issues with mold or mustiness.

My LG washer still looks like new and functions well. I am hopeful that with proper maintenance it will provide me with many years of good service..See More Dishwasher Choices Q Comments (1) choose the dishwasher that has an option for a shorter but full-cleaning cycle.Q Comments (111) No one here has mentioned Whirlpool. I am so sold on their appliances, it's all I will buy. Kenmore is made by Whirlpool. When we moved into our house 2 and a half years ago, there was a brand new Whirlpool dishwasher waiting to be hooked up. I was thrilled after living in an apartment where we had NO counter space and hand washed everything for over 5 years with sulfury smelling water. Once I began using the new dishwasher, I realized it was a bottom-of-the-line cheap replacement to the old one that was on the porch when we moved in. I could never understand the design of that dishwasher and how the dishes were supposed to fit. Couldn't wait to replace it. So we bought a new one and just had it installed 2 weeks ago along with a new sink and faucet (I am loving this redesigned kitchen space!). Now I don't like the new one because I can't fit the dishes in the way I used to. Guess there is no pleasing me, LOL. Don't like the stainless steel interior because it's so dark inside I can't see what I'm doing (old one was white). Don't like the larger spaces on the top rack because the dishes don't fit the same way and the tines move funny and seem flimsy. LOVE the silverware basket that fits into the door, which the old one didn't have and the dishwashers we had in other places did. LOVE the fact that it's so quiet I have to check twice to see if it's running. LOVE the fact that it's bigger inside and that it seems better insulated than the old one. Especially LOVE the fact that it doesn't rock back and forth when you pull the racks out because it's been installed correctly!!! That was driving me crazy with the old one.

Hubby tried to anchor it but then I fell over it when it was open and it couldn't be re-anchored. They sell this at Lowe's and it's marvelous. Then I chose a very tall restaurant-style faucet with a sprayer extended on a spring over everything that swings across the entire sink area. It should be mentioned that the dishwasher and the sink area go together as a package deal, and how you like one of the components may be affected by the other. It should also be mentioned that not liking either of them can cause frustration and depression and affect your overall diet. Processing fresh veggies is a breeze with my new system and I was thrilled at how easy it was to do Thanksgiving with a huge sink that fit the whole roaster pan. I have never been able to do that before, having only had small divided sinks. I really do need to sit down and read the dishwasher manual -- haven't done that yet or explored all the features. Thanks for the advice everyone!!!.See More Final kitchen plan - dishwasher. The flatware tray at the top takes up little space and frees up room inside the unit. I entertain A LOT and have never felt like I needed a larger DW. I also don't like to let dirty dishes sit while waiting to fill up the machine so this is a better option for me when it's just the two of us. I realize it probably wouldn't work for a large family but I love the efficiency and the space it frees up. Six inches of width in a small kitchen matters!.See More jwvideo 3 years ago Same with my new 300 series model, too. A typical dishwasher is too big to handle the daily dishes for two people. I have heard about dishwasher drawers, but it I do have a crowd over, it would be too small. If there is a regular size dishwasher that can wash a half load, then I would have the best of both options. Any thoughts for a dishwasher that can do a half load and wash the dishes well? Currently have a Bosch, which lead me to this post, re half load.

With the dishwasher powered off remove the bottom dish rack to give yourself better access to the basin of the dishwasher. It’s not the most pleasant job if the tub is still full of dirty water, but the filter tube should still be easily visible and can be removed with an anticlockwise twist. If it is indeed the culprit then simply removed the debris and give the filter a good wash and rinse.

If your Bosch dishwasher is still not draining then you’ll need to continue downwards into the basin and towards the drain pump. At this point you’re going to need to remove as much water as possible from the dishwasher to allow you to examine the drain pump. A wet dry vacuum is the ideal tool for this job but if you haven’t got one to hand then you’ll have to make do with scooping out as much as you can then and using kitchen towels to soak up the remaining water sitting down in the sump. Once you’ve shifted the water it’s time to remove the drain pump cover, which on most Bosch dishwashers will be secured with a single screw. Remove that using a screwdriver and then take off the cover by gripping the tab on the left and lifting it up and towards you. On top of the pump are impeller blades which are used to force the water out of the basin and into the pump. Just like you did with the filter, check for and bits of food debris which could be preventing the water from draining. Replace the drain pump cover, then the drainage mesh, then the filter, and finally the lower dish rack. Now run your dishwasher on it’s shortest cycle to check if you’ve managed to fix the problem. Check the dishwasher waste pipe for obstructions. It’s unlikely any large pieces of food debris have found there way through both the filter and the drain pump, but grease and fat can get through whilst hot and then turn solid as they cool down. Try squeezing the waste pipe along it’s length to break it up, then run on the dishwasher on it’s hottest cycle to shift any remnants. Fortunately they are not very expensive although you might want to consider paying for a professional to do the job if you aren’t confident doing repair work yourself. Not a member? Over the past two years, BSH Home Appliances, which announced the recall with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, has received five reports of the power cords overheating and causing fires that resulted in property damage. BSH said that the overheating occurred when the dishwashers were in use, not when they were sitting idle. The repair should take less than an hour. Do it all the time for customers who dont purchase the accessory cord or for those that wont reach, as in your case. ( 1 Answer ) By Abomb 11 months ago Helpful ( 0 ) Unhelpful ( 0 ) Report Sorry, there was a problem. Answer this question Answers A: Look at the 3 prong side of the cord. You will see a slightly larger prong and a slightly smaller prong and the ground in the middle. The slightly smaller prong would be the power or black and the slightly larger prong would be the white or neutral. For the power side prong, if the cord is flat, the wire in the cord will be on the same side of that prong.
