Won't drain Again, this is most likely to be caused by a kinked or blocked hose, or a blocked filter. The drain pump can get blocked, the water pump belt can break, and if the door won’t lock this can be another factor that prevents the machine from emptying water. Is noisy Excessive noise can be produced when bearings are faulty. Or there’s something stuck in the drum causing it to rattle during the cycle. The drain pipe could be blocked, and the filter obstructed. The drum bearing can wear and need re-sealing, and you can experience problems with the drive pulley and the motor coupling. Vibrates and shakes The washing machine needs to be level to avoid these issues. Shock absorbers that connect the drum to the chassis could be defective, and so could the concrete weights in older appliances. Suspension springs and rods can break, and balance rings can lose fluids. Wear and tear on the drum can cause excess vibration. Is leaking If the drain pump is damaged it may leak water. If the drum seal is worn this can lead to water leaking into the bearings and they may fail. The door seal can cause water leaks if it’s torn, and leaks can also come from the drain hose. Is overflowing The water inlet valve is often the main culprit here. If it’s defective the machine will fill with water even when it’s not getting any power. The pressure switch is responsible for delivering that power and that too can fail. You may find that the inlet valve isn’t getting enough pressure and can’t fully close after the power is turned off. Has a door that won’t open When the door stays locked this may mean the machine has detected water inside. How old were your units. I own a Duet and haven't had any problems yet, but it's too new and too soon to tell. It's hard to find repair people who know what they're doing with this machine. And it finally just stopped spinning, after a host of other burn outs -- in-take valve, motor, etc. I can't take it. Will never buy another Bosch. The new giant Miele sounds intriguing -- but what do you all think of buying a 1.0 product -- reliability, etc.? I got the older 2277 washer and matching dryer. Small Euro machines heat faster, and they heat hotter, and they can all heat from cold for a profile wash (which none of the larger drum machines can do except the Bosch). Of course, any of them might be more reliable than your particular Bosch! - DR. I purchased them when I was single and they served me well. Plus, they have been terrific for my small apartment because they take up relatively little space. Our family is growing and my wife wants a new washer with higher capacity, so I am especially interested in this thread recommending replacements. For us, Miele and Asko are cost prohibitive, particularly since we are in the process of building a new house.I'm replacing my 3 year old dead LG 0532 with an equivalent LG 0642, my advice is to get what you think you like, and then get a 5 year service plan from a company with whom you do business often, so that they'll take care of it IF it breaks. Don't forget to include the cost of the plan when you compare costs at different stores. I hope the new one lasts many times longer. If I'd been through several repairs I'd probably feel differently. I hope this will be like buying a 2nd or 3rd model year car, that LG has worked the bugs out and that the new one (0642 instead of 0532) will last. If it doesn't, I have some confidence that Best Buy will make it right. I'd even be happy with 10; now that I have four large and active children one year in my family is like two in a smaller household. We are in Japan and I imported the machine from the United States in 2000. It has been in operation, almost daily, for 14 years now. The only maintenance it needed was a new power switch and new carbon brushes 2 years ago. Both jobs I did myself. Could it be that the machine is lasting forever because it operates on a relatively low voltage?

Some brownish water came out, about 2 cups worth. I also opened up the circular cover for the drain pump and was able to turn the impeller. This makes me think it is a hot water problem. I have verified that the hot input is open. If that doesn’t work call your landlord. If it’s a rental property then it should be his responsibility.
