The frequencies have however take a better turn for the bass guitarist. The frequencies are now at 50Hz, 120Hz, 400Hz, 500Hz, 800Hz, 4.5kHz and 10kHz which means they're not spaced at octaves anymore. This gives the most critical frequencies of 400 hz-500 hz two separate sliders for more overall control of tone. This newer EQ pedal addition tackles that dilemma better than the previous Boss Ge-7B. You now have a much more usable EQ pedal design specifically for the bass guitar. This pedal works well with any bass guitar or bass amp that needs some major or minor EQing adjustments. The pedal can be a bit noisy and that is because it is a booster pedal which adds distortion to the mix. So that can be tamed depending on how much or how little of the sliders that you use. The level will have the most effect of noise to your rig. The pedal is a must for someone who may have an older bass amp or an amp that doesn't highlight the right frequencies that you would like. This is a cheap alternative to buying a whole new rig. It's not rackable or able to be edited using a computer. The sliders are very intuitive and easy to play with to change the sound. The range of frequencies on this pedal make it very useful for tone shaping possibilities.

I found it very useful to produce a fuller sound with fuzz pedals as some of them tended to cut a bit of the bass frequencies so this eq could be used to boost them a bit. The only problem I have with this pedal is that it can be quite noisy when boosting a few things but if you learn to use it by cutting what you don't want and then just boosting the overall level then it can be pretty quiet. The buffered bypass on this pedal isn't great but as I used this pedal turned on most of the time I never really had a problem with that. OVERALL OPINION Overall I think this pedal is pretty decent for the price but it was a little too noisy for me to keep in my rig. The main reason I used this pedal was because I preferred the graphic equalizer rather than the parametric one on my ashdown amplifier. After spending more time with my amp I've worked out to do all the things I used to without the pedal so it was useless me keeping it. The model is the GEB-7 Let's get the rundown of the frequencies you can boost or cut. L-R: 50hz, 120hz, 400hz, 500hz, 800hz, 4.5khz and 10khz. I bought this used on off of an online guitar forum. I had no fear because it's a Boss, they are tanks. It is built like a tank. I can just toss it in my gig bag and pull it out when needed. Some people gripe about Boss' bypass. Buffered vs. True Bypass. The Boss pedals feature the buffer. I do not notice any pros or cons either way. This pedal isn't noisy. Rock solid! The faders will probably be the first thing to go, but so far so good.

Sadly however it just didn't cut it for me in terms of sound, the boosts are great and if you want to add to your sound this might be just the ticket. I however bought it to EQ my rig to the room as I play in all different styles of venues that can often have problems with standing waves and so on and the cut is just not aggressive enough. If you try to cut a certain frequency it will pull down the frequencies around it. As a live pedal used to boosting it would be ideal, if you want something for more technical EQ work then a good quality pre-amp might be the better choice. However the fact it put up with my heavy size 12's stamping on it is no mean feat and Boss again show why so many people try to emulate their design. I have found that boosting the lowest slider control just a little, and then boosting the mids to taste gives me the sound I like. I also use it with a custom Jazz bass and an Ibanez BTB. You have to experiment with the unit, because it responds a little differently to different pickups and between passive and active instruments, but it always helps. I use it to get a warmer sound, but it will also give you a harder, in-your-face metal tone. You just have to experiment with it a little. I never realized such a simple, inexpensive unit would due so much to change a bass' tone. It can also boost your signal, so it's the first step towards distortion if you want that. This pretty much sums it up for me in a stomp box. It has deep rich tone for your lows, never drowns out your mids while keeping your highs bright and clear. It can add a dark, punchy, heavy tone to your sound even before adding distortion. It can bring out the slap n pop out of your bass just with a few tweaking. Hell it even gave life to my passive P Bass that I use it again for practice---and I hardly use that bass anymore. While I was looking for a compression pedal, I wanted to sift through choices with certain criteria, products made by the brands I already had experience with that are made available at reasonable prices. I didn't find a hell of a lot with a budget involved over multiple websites and at local stores in my area. I didn't consider an equalizer at first, but after reading other reviews and listening to other bassist's testimonies, I realized that this was what I was really looking for. As shown in the attached picture, I placed the GEB-7 as the third pedal, after the Vox and Dunlop, and before the other Boss and the green fuzz.

I wanted to intercept the signal sent out by the last two so I could narrow down the frequencies to find my sound. I run this pedal board into a Peavey TKO-115 combo amp, so I am not working with a huge rig. This kind of setup is perfect for me, and I highly recommend this pedal for anyone else in a similar situation that wants the option of more tone control.Messing with the sliders a bit gets a sound not native to the bass and amp. With the added volume level boosti g it a couple dbs too. As an always on pedal paired with a compressor makes me sound stronger and tough. Good Boss quality and Ichigo are good dealers. This pedal really helped to fine tune my specific bass, since we have 2 other guys that play their own basses. So easy to adjust and every little adjustment makes a big difference. Haven't had any negative issues at all.This is the first pedal I bought and I'm glad I did. There are a lot of settings and uses for it. If you play blues or reggae you can get deep and strong sounds by lowering the mids and you will love this thing. There are some special settings if you are into slapping and such. I study a little bit of sound theory and this pedal works awesome to create a natural distortion, just increase the mids and level knobs all the way and put all the gain in your amp, it will create a nice tone special for metal, crust and alternative music that need a violent bass.
