The impression that I had was positive, I heard many interesting and diversified tones, and had immediately even the sensation that it was a powerful and complex machine. They provided me a GT-10 and its 152 pages long manual, a small combo amplifier and two jack cables. I asked suggestions about how to connect properly the stuff, and I was suggested to connect everything in the most classic way possible as showed in figure 1: In the end I was extremely tired and the impression that I’d had wasn’t as good as the one that the demo videos had given to me. The main reason was that I hadn’t heard a clear difference changing basic aspects of a tone like the type of preamp in a clean sound or the type of distortion in a distorted one. I wondered why, but at the same time I was aware of the complexity of this device, and was quite sure that a couple of hours are not enough to master it.

The last amplifier tends to prevail, and just like in my test in the musical instruments shop you don’t hear a clear difference changing basic aspects of a tone. The BOSS GT-10 only acts as the preamp, and in this way you can fully appreciate the powerful simulations given by the COSM technology. Make a simple test: switch on only the preamp unit of your GT-10 and select as a type “ Clean TWIN “, that is a simulation of a Fender Twin Reverb amplifier, or “ BG Lead “, that simulates the lead sound of a Mesa Boogie combo amplifier, and listen by yourself. For example, in my setup where I have a Marshall JCM 2000 Dual Super Lead series DSL100 tube head I use its amazing distortion. The loop is great for creating a rhythm for lead or rhythm to play along with. It's great for recording, whether you are going through the amp and mic recording, or going all digital and plugging straight in via the USB Cable. I highly recommend this product to any style guitar musician. A side note, this particular purchase did not come with a power adapter, so you will need to pick one up if it does not say one is supplied.I upgraded after about 8 years from a zoom gt2.1 to this and am pleasantly surprised with how multieffects pedals have improved. The software is ok and works on my 2015 mac. I will say that it is more convenient to use the software if you plan on making a lot of adjustments compared to the actual pedal. The presets are ok, but like most multi pedals need to be reworked. The downloadable presets from Boss in my opinion are NOT good.
There are very few presets available and there is not a community webpage where people can uplaod presets which is unfortunate. Volume pedal seems good and responsive so far after about 3 months, but occassionally does squeak upon pressing it down.I dont want to leave my pedal on all the time so i constantly have to unplug the power source from the pedal which is annoying. Also looper function is not super convenient, but is still nice to have. Not a super expensive multi effects pedals but has all the options you could ever want and need for a live show. Also battery usage is convenient.Some presets are just silly but serve more as a demonstrator than anything you'll actually ever use. Tuner seems to disagree with my handheld one, and I plugged into a lead guitar effects box to compare. Didn't agree with that either but was close enough. The pedal throw is smooth and accurate, I mostly use it for volume and it offers fine tuning control. I wish it had built in drum tracks, but the looper is really nice (just wish I could loop over drums.) I also wish it came with an AC power unit. Guess that's to keep the cost down but really- it's just a hidden cost since you aren't going to rely on AA batteries for any serious playing. Overall it's a solid contender for this price range. If I were a professional musician I would probably be less concerned about price and get something more advanced, but for the hobbyist this is a good value. (I get a kick out of playing Slayer using the New Gospel setting.ah the irony)Picked it up at Alto Music for a great deal. Was Mint in the box. It has a distinct Boss Tone just like their famous pedals. The pedal Sims are Spot On. My favorite Boss pedal is the Blues Driver 2 and this GT1 absolutely nails it. I ran them side by side and it is right on. The Blues Driver is the key to a lively pick nuance and tube feel. I run it before everything.
Now that I picked up the GT1 I could sell my BD2 pedal but I won't cause it frees up another available fx. I really liked this pedal because of the small footprint. I use a lot of pedals and control vocal fx from a floor pedal. 22 Drives and 27 Amps and more than 100 fx. Hands down best sounding Overdrives and Amps. I have tried all the current Multifx and Amp simulators. This is now my favorite. It has the most organic tone and tube like response. I use a solid state Fender Mustang 3 amp and it really pairs nicely with the Gt1. It has the same engine as it's bigger brother the GT100 but not as many features for less than half the price. The Chorus comes with lots of control and tone hi and lo cutoffs. I have or had other multifx units and this one was the last to try. I send the signal to my amp and also to the Live PA system thru the Behringer Ultra DI 120 stereo direct box which cost less than 25. Great deal.My old pedal burned out. The FX were super easy to learn and use and the looper is a piece of cake. Learning to use this pedal took less than 3 hours to master.Oh here's a USB port. Must get power from USB. Plugged in the USB and the guitar and power. What I didn't know is you're not getting power from the USB, and right before the gig was over the batteries died.Make sure that your windows10 is up to date otherwise the Boss Tone Studio software will not detect the GT1, if you use this application. Prior to the windows update the GT1 was not detected by the Tone Studio software. There was a Roland GT1 windows update which rectified the problem. The GT! is an AWESOME piece of kit and MEGA value for money. Purchase a straight amplifier (new or old) with no bells and whistles and add the GT1 between your guitar and the amplifier. The effects are out of this world. Everything is in one package, even a guitar tuner so you do not have to purchase individual pedal boxes.
The only thing that I did not like was the size of the expression pedal, its ok but if you have big feet then this may be a problem. You can purchase a full size EV-5 expression pedal and plug it into the back of the GT1 to rectify this or you may have to adapt your foot to the small pedal on the GT1. The unit is built to a very high standard with quality switches and controls on a metal deck with a plastic back. The unit uses 4 x aa batteries or a boss power adapter. Please try again I also bought a cheap 2 button toggle pedal to allow me to have 2 CTL switches and a tap tempo on the delay. Out the box it sounded a bit harsh on my trace acoustic amp but with some tweaks to the master EQ it sprang into life. Delays are nice and varied. Reverbs are OK, would have liked to have been able to have the reverb as loud as the dry signal for some volume swell effects. The acoustic processor brings some nice tonal adjustments and with the right tweaks, it makes your guitar sing. Programing on the unit is straightforward if you are used to these kinds of units and you can also assign the 3 rotary knobs to almost ant effect parameter for live tweaking. The chorus is also very nice, which is expected from a boss unit. The other modulation effects all sound fantastic, particularly the rotary speaker. The editing software for the PC is very user friendly and is great for learning all the tweaks you can apply using the assignments. Build wise it ferls quite sturdy and it should be able to last a good few years of playing. Overall I'd say this is a great wee unit, but the 2 extra toggle pedals are a must to unleash its full potential. If you are looking for a budget multi effects but not a budget sound, this has it in spades.Sorry, we failed to record your vote.

I like the fact you can save patches to live sets using the software which once you get it installed is very easy to use just look up some videos its more clearer than the manual which doesn't cover enough to get you up and running.
