No way around that. For such a large fan it is very quiet. I spray painted the cover to match my ceiling. Looks great. Used it on a standard wall switch.The best move I ever made. I no longer have to rely on my kids to turn on the fan when they shower.Because we did not want to redo the wiring between the unit and the switch, one flick of the switch sets it to automatic or two flicks manually turn it on. The unit can only be attached to studs on one side, which is not the side that the unit I was replacing was attached on, so we ended up opening a pretty large hole in the ceiling and then patching it. If you are doing a remodel, it's going to just be easier to do this regardless of where you're attaching it, unless you can easily get at it from above. I used this unit to replace what I believe was an original exhaust fan to my condo built in 1972, which was much smaller and not nearly enough CFMs. The sensor to turn the unit on automatically is adjustable and may require fiddling over time. The face plate is very easy to pop down and back to do this. Be careful of the flapper in the exhaust outlet. It falls out easily, and getting it back in is tricky. I broke one of the prongs that held it in place. However, I sent Broan a message through their website and they quickly sent me a new exhaust piece and flapper free of charge.It’s very quiet and it pulls about 80 ft.? per minute of air and moisture out of the bathroom. That of a paid to install as it was a fresh installation. My bathroom just had a window and that’s what was used to keep the moisture down but I felt that a fan would be better so I installed it.

My bathroom is not that big but it does a good job of removing the moistureI also had my electrician add a switch in the bathroom to manually turn on the fan when it would normally be automatically off but this switch will not affect the sensor's operation of the fan. I also had a second switch installed in the attic to override the sensor to turn the sensor off incase it ever malfunctions. I can't really comment on noise level. It's not loud but you know when it's on. I added a picture of what was in the box and a pic of the sensor settings.Its just I had those nasty arguments with Broan Tech support, because installation I was after is similar to the attic fan (i.e does not require any inline switch). So, anyhow, I figured it out, works just like attic fan, fully in auto mode.I also love the self lubricating motor because we live in a very cold climate and freezing air coming in. Bathroom was warmer after this install because there was a nice flap. I would buy you wall switch at Home Depot or Lowes so you can see what you are buying. I made the mistake of buying online, then too expensive to return so I am stuck with extra wall plate. Filters were falling out 1. Removed old pieces off rivet. Rivet stays in place. Used flat screwdriver to pry off. 2. Put double sided tape from kit on new aluminum brackets. New bracket has hole in center to go over existing rivet. Pushed in place and reinstalled filters. Aluminum brackets so much better than original plastic. Holds great.
