Conversely, Unilite and Pulso head modeling lights will not function when plugging them into a Mobil a2r pack. Either way there is no risk of damage to either the pack or the head. The pin outs on the heads are different so the only behavior is that the lamphead modeling light will not turn on. Litos is a lightweight head that was created specificall for use with teh Senso pwer pack. Litos will only operate on a Senso power pack and not on other broncolor packs. But in addition to the Lito head any other broncolor head can be used with the Senso power pack. A Pulso G2 (1600 ws) and a Pulso G4 (3200 ws) lamphead are the same lamphead body. The only difference is the flashtube that each uses. The same is true of the Unilite line of lampheads the 1600 ws and 3200 ws versions of the heads are the same, but the flash tube in each is much different. The 1600 ws models are designed for use in any pack, but only up to 1600 ws of output. These flash tubes are less expensive and will wear out much faster if used above their rated 1600ws. The 3200 ws tubes on the other hand can be used at any power up to 3200 ws. I've heard that the capacitors are not the best in these packs once they start to go, and you have to condition them regularly etc. Any advise and or tips would be greatly appreciated. Just for kicks, here is a shot of the leaky capacitor. It may be that you need to replace the whole bank. If you can find suitable equivalent parts locally at a good price, and you've already got some heads that fit the pack, it might be worthwhile making the repair yourself. PS: I don't know how much electrical knowledge you have, but I'd think twice about powering up the pack, even with the suspected bad part removed. Big high voltage caps whose electrolyte has dried out can sometimes explode with a surprising amount of force. It would be safer to replace all the caps, or at least to test the remaining ones individually, out of circuit, before you risk connecting the pack to the mains. There is a huge amount of energy stored in the capacitors and you do not want to muck about unless you know exactly what you are doing. You could kill yourself.As much as I like to mess around with electrical stuff, I wouldn't want to poke around in a pack, that's 500VDC there, just one cap exploding would be devastating. It appears the caps are soldered in parallel, which you need a high wattage iron, I'd say at least 80W. Not trying to discourage you as I have always taken the adventure route myself.

I hope you do have a good understanding in discharging the caps properly. There's a safety vent at the top of the can that pops open to relieve pressure (to prevent the can from exploding).At least then I'll know if it's worth sourcing a new Capacitor or not.I will take advise though and be well clear when I turn it on to start the conditioning process. It powers up with 88 in display then goes to 10 flashing. I suspect it's trying to charge, but can't get the power decrement button to work. Another symptom is that when I try to push the button for port one, the led comes on for that port but a beep sound is heard untill I turn it off again. I'm going to give it some more try's each day or so in an attempt to condition the caps. I think it is charging because when I pulled the covers off and dumped the caps, there was a bit of energy in there even after it had been left off for a couple of hours. CRACK ! Any idea's ? You need to connect a flash head to discharge or the misfire alarm will go off. Do you have any experience with Broncolor pack before. In a fraction of second it recharges to have 1-2kJ of energy already, be very careful. I would assume that if it had recharged properly that 10 would not be flashing and I could reduce the power level from 10 down through the range to 6.0. I did have a Pulso Twin head connected but the alarm still went off when I tried to enable the port. I think I need to find a manual for this. Only ones I can find online so far are not free. A bit rich when the people selling them didn't create them or own the IP. I'll keep searching. Also, I do have an original Mobil pack and heads so have a bit of an idea of what to expect but without the manual, I'm not 100 sure what should be happening.
If I try to trigger the pack via the slave or miniphone port, the misfire alarm sounds for 5-10 seconds and no flash from the twin head. This head works ok on a Mobil pack. I have not got to a point where I'm willing to power up with the covers off to check the voltage on the caps during charging but will do this once I've successfully left it on for a couple of hours and will post the result. Maybe a few days to a week depending on work. Thanks for your interest. Rob. This means an overall voltage of 720V DC max. If 1C is removed from a bank (if burned out f.e.), you have to remove 1C from the other bank too, due to the balance in capacitance. If you are not experienced, do not open it. These Voltages and power are killing. Beware of rest voltages on C's! My current issue is that I just get a flashing 10 and no response from panel to lower power to 6.0 which is what I want to do. I've not done much with it lately due to a working S1400 R to use but really want the adjustment range of the Pulso. I had only removed one cap from one bank, so your post makes good sense. Vivian SB 4.0 out of 5 stars I didn’t do that and wound up wrestling the softbox. Assembly challenges aside, this softbox is a great value for the money. The material is sturdy and the unit is well-constructed. The silver interior reflects light well and the baffle diffuses it nicely. There are vents on the sides to dissipate heat and the included mounting ring is strong, well-made and fits my Elinchrom strobes perfectly. The ring also allows the softbox to rotate, a feature that comes in very handy. One issue is excess fabric extending past the mounting ring which interferes with the softbox coupling to the strobe - just open the hook and loop slits, attach the softbox to the light and then close the slits again. Also, the outer diffuser cover doesn’t quite meet the corners leaving small gaps through which light may leak. Gaffers tape will help, if necessary. Neither of these issues is a deal-breaker for me. Overall, this is an excellent value for the money, especially for a hobbyist, and an Elinchrom-branded 24” by 36” softbox would have cost three or four times what I paid for the Fotodiox. Satisfied customer!For this look, I've been relying on a Westscott Scrim Jim Frame with a custom-sewn strip light.

This is far more convenient, and nothing beats the drama of a big, thin strip of very soft light - and at 6.6 feet tall, this should bring the drama. I purchased my first photoflex softbox close to 20 years ago and I've used all kinds of them in my career. For starters - assembling ANY softbox is a small war, and the larger, the harder. This one is no exception, but it did come with very complete instructions. But it takes strong hands to get one of these together. The build quality of this beats Photoflex's strobe boxes, and is close to their hot-light boxes. The hot boxes use metal rods, as does this - but these are about twice the thickness - my Pflex metal rods look like crushed spiders (and my fiberglass rods are covered in splinters). Fotodiox really wins on the rods. The fabric is thick, the silver is thick, and it's all sewn very strong. On top of that you get a VERY legit grid (a medium photoflex grid costs more than this box WITH its grid). The grid quality is an upgrade from the chinese knockoffs as well - the border is double-thick and sewn very well - it seems equal to my Photoflex grids. That alone is a shock. This sucker's taller than me, and with the thick fabric, I'd think hard about using it with a Bowens mount or on a Novatron or something - for my Speedotron BlackLine heads, it seems fine and sturdy. It came with a good-quality speedring, that's properly sized for the box (I have small strip boxes with speedrings so big, you can't close the fabric on top). The instructions rate this for up to 500 watts continuous light, too - I have some mogul-based HIDs at 400 watts (they put out about 1.5k of 5500k) adapted to Photoflex Starlights, so that's a nice bonus, and there are vent flaps on the sides. Only cheap thing about this. The carrying bag is flimsy crap - exactly like Photoflex's flimsy crap bags.
The whole thing was a real shock to me - I've bought some ebay special chinese boxes to get sizes I can't find from the pro companies, and they're functional but cheap and likely ultimately disposable - but damn, Fotodiox has really upped their game with this line. Recommended.I order 2 of these for Photogenic light heads and the product came with a universal mountable speedring that takes different inserts for different heads. One of the packages came with 2 inserts and one of them fit. The second strip box package came with 1 insert, and it doesn't fit. It came with the one with a curved lip and was shorter and was pushed up agaianst my lighthead. The photo is missleading; The lighthead connected to the softbox, In the photo is all blacked out, yet when in reality this dedicated speedring is exposed and visible and where all the light spill happens. There is no cover thats included for this problem. If you pull the material that barely can cover over it, the sharp corners will last a matter of a few uses before they rip, or the velcro gives. That the back covers don't cover over the speed ring, and only butts up below it. This causes major light spill and loss of light performance as well. I would give this a 3 Star if I didn't have the missing piece. I had a shoot following my delivery and was not able to use the softbox which killed my shoot. N ot having one makes the other one pretty much useless. These are specific lighting softboxes and not easy to replicate another lightbox without grids and duplicate the light. So now I have 1 that works, and 1 that doesn't, but not having the pair is like wearing 1 shoe. Also the photos in the listing are incorrect. The dedicated speedring that comes with the set is not a round piece thats round on the outside. It is more a star shape as all the connection points have a post sticking out. I mention this as it completely scratched the interior of my car side liners.
If they were as pictured, it would not cause any scratches to get hung on. Another point which I think Amazon can correct is that these are NOT the same as rounf softboxes. The round ones actually come with the rear cover, and they should be in a separate review listing.It is just the right size for me and as such I can leave it fully assembled and put it in the loft when not required, it also ha side vents that you can open to allow airflow to the lamp if required, the whole things comes in a slim nylon bag for easy storage. Please try again It usually takes me just a couple of minutes to unpack one and zip it together, whether it's a cheap Chinese softbox, or an expensive Elinchrom. But this thing. it's insanely crazy tight and stiff, to the point where I had to really fight to get it assembled. It was so bad that I actually had to use my foot to brace the speedring in place, to get the posts in; and both to assemble and disassemble, I relied on the material really stretching. Once assembled, the softbox is serviceable; there's nothing obliquely wrong about it. But there isn't particularly anything great about it, either. Also, the material of the softbox is rhino-hide thick. At least as thick as the average inexpensive softbox, somewhat more so than many. One positive is a heat vent, perhaps. These aren't really necessary with most light sources that are used these days, but it's there if you do need it. Will I keep it? I'm not sure. It's okay assembled (if heavy), it's a decent size, and it's not very expensive.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. The rods are a bit stiff to put in, but I expect that. The only thing is it is a little heavy and tends to tilt the light down over time. I have older Bowens Travelite 750s and they don't tighten as well as they used to. For the price, I am quite impressed.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. The fan on my Pulso A4 pack stoped running so i pulled the cover off and removed the fan then i was getting a reading to see if any voltage was getting to the fan and yes there was 16vdc. I then sent an email off to Broncolor to find out the specs of the fan so i could get another.
I went back to the pack to make shure it was 16vdc when the probe from my meter sliped and shorted something out. It caused a spark and triped the house safety switch. I went to turn it back on then heard a sound like a relay clunking then POP and smoke. I think i just killed it. My dad is a retired electrical engineer and looks like ive brought him out of retirement but to help him allong i need to try and get my hands on the schematics. Does anyone have the schematics or service manual on the Broncolor Pulso A4.But even if it isn't, wouldn't this be a good time to let Broncolor have the unit before you hurt yourself?More like Killed myself.It could discharge on you. Tom Waits I have in the past inadvertently shorted a capacitor in a modestly small shoe mounted flash powered by 4-AA's and it sounded like a rifle shot. It also burned the corner off of the screw driver I was prying in the area to try to figure out where an intermittent pcboard crack was. So I have immense respect for my Spedotron pack. It has a design that dumps the charge though a pair of power resistiors when a control relay senses that the pack has been turned off. I still test extensively with a voltage probe when I am openning the pack up to change jumper settings.They're like rolex's, swiss, and very precise.
