This instruction manual is intended to provide the user with all the information necessary to install, operate and maintain the Brooks 5860E Mass Flow Meter. This manual is organized into five sections: The Model 5860E consists of two basic units: a flow sensor, and an integral electronic signal converter. This combination produces a stable gas flow indication, which eliminates the need to continuously monitor and compensate for changing gas pressures and temperatures. Standard features include. If the packing case is damaged, the local carrier should be notified at once regarding his liability. It is recommended that the calibration be performed only by trained and qualified service personnel. This adjustment is performed by observing the output signal of the meter when the flow is suddenly stopped. Place a metering valve upstream of the Model 5860E to control the flow rate. If an in-line filter is used, the filtering element should periodically be replaced or ultrasonically cleaned. 4-2 Troubleshooting A.
System Checks The Model 5860E is generally used as a component in gas handling systems which can be quite complex. Clogged Sensor. Clean sensor. Refer to cleaning procedure. The sensor assembly may be removed or replaced by referring to Section 4-4, Disassembly and Assembly. If the sensor assembly is cleaned and reinstalled, a calibration check should be performed. The SLR series is electricaly interfaced using a high-density 15-pin D-Sub connector. The device uses an externally supplied 13 to 32 VDC excitation which in turn is supplied to the mating Brooks pressure transducer. A sensor, such as the SolidSense II pressure transducers and transmitters, connects to either the back or bottom of the TD100 with a 4-pin Bendix connector. The TD100 connects to the loop through either a 6-wire pigtail cable or a 4-pin mail Bendix connector. The TD100 offers a real time reading. It is loop powered, single channeled, and can swivel around the transducer so the viewing angle can be adjusted. The display has red LED lighting for easy reading in low ambient light. The TD100 has two adjustable alarm setpoints. That's so you can adjust the tension on the leather after it breaks in and stretches a bit with the nut at the front of the seat. I really like the antique brown color. Please try again I am male 80 kg, 5'11'' and in my early 60s. I have a Brompton bike with M bars giving me a fairly upright posture. I found the standard Brompton saddle didn't suit me at all. I was persuaded to buy this saddle by other positive reviews. I was concerned about the potential longish breaking in period but right away it was more comfortable than any saddle I have previously experienced (wearing non padded trousers). My ride is no longer limited by discomfort and I no longer feel I have to stand on the pedals for broken road surfaces (of which there are plenty). But anyway, I decided to go for this saddle having seen the reviews of this and the more sensibly-priced saddles - basing my decisions on comments on comfort and build quality.
I've now done a couple of 2-hour rides without having to stop because of bum-ache, which I was suffering from with my previous saddle (mid-price unsprung), even with three layers of padding. I sprayed a little amount of grease on the front and read attach point to the frame, and the noise disappeared (I suspect actually the front attach was the cause). Then I put together my idea of a gravel bike based on a cotic road rat steel frame with a Shimano alfine eight speed hub gear on 700c wheels with 40mm tires. One thing anyone who’s ridden a Brooks saddle will tell you is that they really do improve with age; by treating the leather properly and simply putting in miles, the saddle will begin to break-in and form to the rider’s seat bones creating a comfortable and personalized riding experience. Although they are indeed a sight for sore eyes, it's the comfort and durability that really shine once mounted on a bike. On the other hand, if neglected, a Brooks saddle might end up looking like this: So for all the cyclists who've made that initial investment, or are heavily considering it, we're adding this latest blog post in our “oversimplified” series in an attempt to shed some very important and easy to digest knowledge on getting the most out of your Brooks saddle. Let’s get started. Tools of the Trade: First things first. Using just these three items, you will be able to break-in, maintain, and most importantly enjoy the notoriously comfortable ride provided by a genuine Brooks saddle of England. Straight Out of the Box: Straight out of the box, your saddle will be ready to roll as it comes pre-polished and tightened directly from the production line. They assured us of this during our factory tour, which you can read more on here. This is where our pro-tips come in. For a Faster Break-in: Apply Brooks brand Proofide to the top (shiny) side of your saddle. Just use a modest amount (a dab will do ya) and massage it into the saddle using a small rag.
Lightly coat the entire surface of the saddle Let it sit for about 10 mins Polish it off with a clean rag to remove excess Next we'll use that very same technique to apply Proofide to the underside, yes the underside, of your saddle. This is going to help with two things: Softening up the entire leather hide, thus enabling your buns to break the leather in a bit quicker during your first few weeks in the saddle. Making the vulnerable raw underside of the hide a bit more weather resistant than it would be straight off the factory floor. Maintaining: Re-application is a must. Just like protecting your skin from the sun with application and reapplication of sunblock, you’ll need to protect your saddle from everyday life with the occasional coating of Proofide. After a few months, you’ll notice the sheen from your first lather of Proofide is wearing off the top of your saddle. The leather will appear a bit rough and scuffs might start showing up. Just as you would with your favorite pair of leather shoes, go ahead and re-apply a thin layer of Proofide and polish the saddle up. Pro-tip: Don't overdo it with your Proofide. Using too much is essentially going to leave your saddle wet, which could lead to major problems down the line. As we just said, dampness will do your saddle no favors as far as durability goes. Overexposure to water (or dampness of any kind) can displace natural oils in the leather, which leads to drying and cracking over time. This will result in a nasty looking saddle that's no fun to ride. We know life happens and it rains, but you can protect your saddle in two very simple ways: 1. You already did some weatherproofing by applying the Proofide. 2. Grab a rain jacket for your saddle. Available here. Lastly, keep your saddle tight. You’ll notice that as you break your saddle in, the leather hide may start to loosen up and sag like a hammock across the steel frame. This is both bad for your efficiency as a rider, and for the saddle in general.
It also looks pretty ridiculous, so try to periodically tighten up when you notice this happening. Use your Brooks spanner tool to mount the nut just inside the nose of the saddle frame. Give this a quarter of a turn at a time until your saddle is sitting taut and proud. Using this knowledge wisely, you should have a saddle that will last you a literal lifetime, and possibly even someone else’s after that (so long as you provide them with the link to this blog post.)
