Before you can use the printer, you must set up the hardware and install the driver.The HL-1270N printer has a Network interface fitted in the back panel of the printer. AC power cord. Step 1 Insert the CD-ROM Turn on your PC power. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. The opening screen will appear automatically in Windows If the screen does not appear, click Start and choose Run, enter the CD drive letter and type START.EXE. Step 2 Initial Setup 1. Click the Initial Setup button. 2. You can view the Initial Setup operations in the video movie. 3. Click the interface cable you are going to use Parallel, USB or Network. Rock it from side to side 5 or 6 times to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge. Install the drum unit assembly into the printer. Push it fully into the printer until it snaps into place. Close the front cover. Step 2 Load paper into the paper cassette Pull the paper cassette completely out of the printer. Turn on the power switch. After the printer has warmed up, the Ready LED stops blinking and stays lit. Press the control panel button. The printer will print a test page. Check that the test page has printed correctly. Insert the floppy disk into the floppy disk drive. (For Windows follow the instructions on the disk label.) Click Start and select Run. Click the Next button. The USB driver will be installed. 7. Follow the instructions on the screen. Step 1 Insert the CD-ROM Turn on your Macintosh power. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. Add memory to the printer. It may still not be possible to reprint a large print job even after adding memory. Recommendation Check that the printer is turned on. Check that the front cover is fully closed. The printing speed may change, depending on the paper size and the media type in use, in order to avoid damage to the printer.Avoid using coated paper, such as vinyl coated paper. Avoid using preprinted or highly textured paper. Use a recommended type of paper, especially plain paper and transparencies, for optimum printing. Do not use organizer sheets that are stuck together. The glue that is used might cause damage to the printer. Damaged, curled, wrinkled, or irregularly shaped envelopes Extremely shiny or highly textured envelopes Envelopes with clasps Envelopes with self-adhesive closures Envelopes of baggy construction Envelopes not sharply creased Embossed envelopes Envelopes already printed by a laser printer Envelopes pre-printed on the inside Envelopes that cannot be arranged uniformly when placed in a pile. Caution Be sure to select the serial interface type to match your computer as follows: For Apple Macintosh computers: you should not have to change any settings because the Apple (RS-422A) setting is factory selected (default). Caution Be sure to set the parameters to match your computer as follows: Never change the RS-422A parameters for Apple Macintosh computers. The RS-422A parameters have been correctly set at the factory for Apple Macintosh computers, you do not need to change the settings. You need a serial interface cable with an 8-pin, DIN-type connector to connect your printer and computer. Note Consult your dealer for a serial interface cable.
