Instead of auto-duplexing, its 50-page ADF supports manual duplexing, meaning that the printer walks you through the process of scanning and copying two-sided multipage documents, which isn't really too tedious or time-consuming if you don't need to do it often. But our midrange Editors' Choice, Lexmark's MC2535adwe, also scans and copies two-sided documents automatically, as does Epson's color laser alternative, the WorkForce Pro WF-C5790 inkjet. Also, where the MFC-L3770CDW comes with a 30-sheet multipurpose tray for printing envelopes and other media, the MFC-L3750CDW has only a single-sheet override tray. It's also similar in size and weight to Canon's MF644Cdw, yet a tad smaller than that company's MF741Cdw, Epson's WF-C5790, and Lexmark's MC2535adwe. Its maximum monthly duty cycle, like the MFC-L3770CDW's, is 30,000 pages, with a recommended monthly print volume of 1,500 pages. Canon's higher-end MF741Cdw offers a duty cycle 20,000 pages higher than the MFC-L3750CDW's, as well as a print volume 2,500 pages greater. Its input capacity is 300 sheets, expandable to 850. Wi-Fi Direct is a peer-to-peer protocol for connecting to mobile devices to the printer, without either it or them being connected to an intermediary network. You can also scan to and print from USB thumb drives via a port located on the left side of the chassis, shown here. Canon, for instance, rates the MF644Cdw at just 22ppm, while the midrange MFC741Cdw is rated at 28ppm. To verify Brother's ratings, I tested it over Ethernet from our standard Intel Core i5-equipped testbed PC running Windows 10 Pro. It's also 1.2ppm faster than the Epson WF-C5790 and a whopping 14.2ppm behind the Lexmark MC2535adwe.
Given our entire suite of test documents, the Brother MFC-L3750CDW churned at 9.9ppm. Canon's MF644Cdw managed 16.3ppm and the MF741Cdw 18.7ppm; the Epson and Lexmark were close together at 17.7ppm and 16.9ppm, respectively. Here, it averaged 20 seconds apiece, which is about what we expect from color laser-class machines. The text documents you print should be more than suitable for the majority of business purposes. Where some laser AIOs don't shine, however, is in printing immaculate-looking business graphics and photos. Fortunately, the MFC-L3750CDW's Excel charts and PowerPoint handouts with gradients and solid fills were nearly faultless, with smooth gradations from one color to the next and no other noticeable toner distribution issues. Colors were accurate, brilliant, and vibrant, and blacks and other dark fills and backgrounds printed uniformly. The drawback, of course, is that laser printers can't print borderless pages, and photos (and some other types of documents) look more finished and professional when the content bleeds to the edges of the paper. That's noticeably steep next to higher-volume color lasers like the Lexmark MC2535adwe (1.8 cents black and 11.8 cents color) and inkjet alternatives like the Epson WF-C5790 (1.7 cents monochrome, 7.7 cents color). Other entry-level color laser AIOs, though, including Brother's MFC-L3770CDW (same running costs as the MFC-L3750CDW) and Canon's MF644Cdw (3.2 cents black, 16.4 cents color), come with similar or even higher costs. The Epson also delivers much lower running costs. Even so, if you don't scan or copy a lot of two-sided documents and don't need to print or copy more than 300 to 400 pages each month, the MFC-L3750CDW could save you a little on the purchase price. I have not had to replace toner cartridges but the person who recommended this model to me owns one and says while the toner may seem expensive you do get a lot of pages out of it before needing to replace it. I will update this review if something changes, but for now I am very pleased with this purchase. UPDATE: (Five Months of home office use as of 16-July-2019) I uploaded some pictures to show you the toner consumption rate. Now considering that the printer comes with half filled starter Toner cartridges and I am super impressed. Currently I am at 690 pages printed I still have 50 of my black ink left and 90 of the color ink. The printer has been flawless since I got it, no bleeding on the edges or toner dust in the system. It is still just as good as day one and is consuming half the Toner that my older HP used and yet prints so much better.My old Epson inkjet workforce lasted me for 5-6years. But the cost of The of the ink was just to much. And yielded small page counts. Color ran out fast. And if you didn’t print anything for a weeks time (common in this household) it would dry up and be a pain to clean. All of these cons are avoided with this brother color laser. I can still fax purchase orders, send emails, print from usb, print from my iPhone with Apple AirPrint(new feature for me), scan large documents with feeder or hires on the flatbed. And it’s a duplex printer (lamen-terms: Both sides of paper). And yes, while the ink is still expensive, because of the nature of the ink design (toner cartridges.powder) it can’t dry out. And the large cartridge sizes permit far larger print yields. I highly recommend this printer for home and small business usage. Brother products have far exceeded my expectation in build quality compared to history. The only reason I have rated at 4 stars is the GUI(Graphic User Interface). But honestly, it’s only worth a half star demotion. While fairly intuitive, some settings and print options are not.
All in all this is an amazing printerBefore that I bought and used only HP printers, but after around 2010, HP printers would inevitably crash out after little over a year. After the third HP printer did this, I decided to try Brother printers. I now have two smaller Brothers that are still working after five years. But so far, after a month of use I am happy with the printer. I was extremely happy with the ease of setup, which was smooth and trouble free. I needed a techie friend to install my large HP T120 and set it up to wireless, but with the Brother, it was simple and I did not need any assistance. I will keep posted in the future regarding the durability and hopefully it will not start giving me problems, but for now, I would recommend to friends and family. Stinky approved!It does not offer one-pass duplex scanning nor does it have an option to flip the pages over for two-pass duplex scanning. This effectively makes this printer worthless for scanning and faxing. Printing and Wi-Fi set-up was easy. Print quality was good, but limited to only a handful of pages in my experience. I would avoid this all-in-one printer if you intend to use the scanning or faxing frequently. If you only need it for the occasional flatbed scan of fax, then it probably will be ok.But one of my textbooks is more than 500 pages. When I just typed 300 pages, it started to remind me, warning me that I would change the toner cartridge. This is too fast, such loss of value greatly exceeded my expectations. I have deliberately read other brands before buying. Some brands directly say that the toner cartridge can be replaced for free within a month, but there is no one here. Therefore, the overall cost performance is not very satisfying. So far I have not prepared to return it, I hope someone can contact me and give me a little help in this regard.PLUS, Brother replacement cartridges are more expensive than the printer. PLUS, the cartridges are chipped adding even more to the cost.
