The evaluations are measured on a standard percentile basis and the percentage equated to a letter grade. At the end of each evaluation period, each student will meet with an instructor to be given their Satisfactory Academic Progress Evaluation results. Student will then acknowledge results by student signature on Satisfactory Academic Progress Evaluation form and copies maintained in their student file. Students will not, however, be allowed to inspect the following records, except as noted below: A refund of tuition, fees, and other institutional charges may be due in the event the institution cancels a class or if a student does not enter or complete the period of enrollment for which the student has been charged. The refund policy is published and uniformly administered.The institution complies with the refund policies adopted by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education unless a different policy is mandated by the institution’s licensing agency or the institution’s governing board. It will provide a total of 1,000 hours of combined theory and practical clinical instruction to be completed prior to admission to the licensure examinations. As proof of successful completion of schooling, the Director of Adult Education will verify and approve the Affirmation of New York State Approved Schooling section via the web-based portal for the Division of State, Division of Licensing Services. Students will be given a calendar with all scheduled school closure dates when enrolling. Employers are interested in dependability. If you are going to be absent or late, you must call the school and a message must be left for your instructor. Adult students may accumulate a maximum of one (1) day of absence each month. Every hour the student is late or leaves early will accumulate toward an absence. If an Adult Student is absent more than three (3) days per quarter, he or she will be placed on probation for the following month. If absences do not improve, failure to meet attendance requirements may result in removal from the program. The kit will contain various tools and equipment to be used during instruction. Kits must be paid for in full before the start of the class. It is the student’s responsibility to replace lost, stolen, or broken kits. Ulster BOCES is not responsible for any kits that have been lost, stolen or broken.
Students are expected to dress in a professional manner and are to wear dark colored pants and a dark colored crew neck shirt. Kits will only be issued after full payment is received. Be sure to include the student's name and program.Any additional reading material must pertain to hairstyling, cosmetology, or nail care. These sheets document time in class, and allow for hours to be counted toward the mandatory instructional hours. This is your responsibility as a student! This is a safety measure for students and clients. If a student’s nails interfere with the ability to perform clinical duties, he or she will be asked to trim them to a reasonable length. If the issue still remains unresolved, the student may request a conference with the Director of Adult Education. If the complaint involves concern about some phase of general school policy, the student should: Therefore, if at any time you are experiencing problems that would interfere with your success at this school, please take the following steps to resolve the problem. A school representative will attempt to meet with you within five (5) working days of the receipt of the form.
