Thanks, GarrettFor me it was a no brainer, for the extra heat output, we went with the V40 the noise level was not an issue at all, much quiter than conventional heaters, not sounding like a jet heater. Anytime you add a fan you will lose mucho efficiency in the wind or rain etc. It makes me wonder if the boost in BTU's the V40 gets is from that fan. If I had the ceiling height and general room I would have gotten the VAL-6.The fans are used to feed air to the combustion chamber, to enable a clean burn of the fuel, the V40 with it's higher btu output uses a larger fan. Neither heater blows air out from the disc, both heaters emit pure radiant heat. In my opinion you could not go wrong with buying either a V40 or Val6 heater, we have one of each the Val6 KBE5L and the V40, both are fantastic heaters.I called the heater guy at www.infraredheatersdirect.com and he explained the different features and prices to us, we ordered the V40 heater after talking with an ole boy who has one. The truck delivered it last week, it works great, not loud and smelly like our old heater, man does it put out the heat looks like we will be warm this winter.If anyone is interested They are for sale with about 22 hours of use on them.Thought I would offer my imput on heaters. We just had a demonstration of the MCS XL9S diesel fired infrared heater. We bought one at a great price, it is a very impressive heater, our research shows it has been available in Europe since 2005, this is the first I have seen of the XL9 heater line, our dealer used to sell the Val6 heaters, the XL9S has a better price than the comparable Val6 EPX heater. We borrowed a Val6 EPX heater, from a neighbor and the XL9 heater seems to be just as good, if not better. Here is a brochure on the XL9S heater: I found a great deal on one that was freight damaged, at a great price, it works great, just has a couple dents ion the outer shell which does not interfere with it's heating.
