INa Introduction. Manual - part 98 If the system is still inoperative proceed with check- ing remaining components. The horn switch is a membrane switch located in the airbag trim cover. The horns are located forward of the left front wheel behind the bumper fascia. For circuit information and component locations, refer to the appropriate wiring information. The wiring information includes wiring diagrams, proper wire and connector repair procedures, details of wire harness routing and retention, connector pin- out information and location views for the various wire harness connectors, splices and grounds. If the horn does If the fuse is blown, replace with the correct fuse. If the horns fail to sound and the new fuse blows when depressing the horn switch, a short circuit in the horn or the horn wiring between the fuse terminal and the horn is responsi- ble, or a defective horn switch allowed the horn to burn out is responsible. Refer to Horn System. The Transfer Unit provides the power to the rear wheels through a hypoid ring gear and pinion set. The Unit uses SAE 85W-90 gear lubricant and holds 1.15 liters (1.22 quarts). If the ring gear and pinion, any tapered roller bearings, case, covers, or pinion carrier fail the entire unit must be replaced. Refer to figures 1, 2, 3 and 4 for appropriate seal name and location. These holes are located on the bottom side of the assembly (Fig. 5). Do not attempt to repair If the fluid leaking is red in color (transmis- If the fluid leaking is light brown (gear lube) this indicates that the Power Transfer Unit input seal should be replaced. For replacement of these seals refer to Power Transfer Unit Service Procedures. If the fluid leaking is red in color (transmission fluid) this indicates that the input shaft end seal should be replaced. However, the two front seats were equipped with non-adjustable headrests on the LE model and in conjunction with vinyl upholstery on the SE. Side-impact reinforcements were mandated and were at all seating positions front and rear. A cargo net between the driver and front passenger seats was added. Color-keyed door and lift-gate handles were made standard on SE models, in addition to a new keyless entry remote. Base and SE models had options for a spoiler as well as color-keyed bumpers and trim (grey or color molded bumpers and trim were standard). The driver's side sliding door became standard.
Package 28D added power front windows with automatic driver's side window, ignition delay, glove box, and an ashtray. The EPIC was powered by 28 12-volt NiMH batteries and was capable of traveling up to 80 miles (130 km) on a single charge. The EPIC was sold as a fleet-only lease vehicle. Production of the EPIC was discontinued in 2001. Only a few hundred of these vehicles were produced and sold. After the leases expired they were returned and crushed.
