Burns Humbucker Pickup Care and Maintenance A guitar is usually out of its case and not being played when damage occurs. Chips and dents can usually be avoided if the guitar is stored in a case when not in use. Your Burns USA dealer can provide you with a case that will provide full protection to your Burns USA guitar when not in use and when transported. There are a few simple precautions that you can take while transporting your Burns USA guitar that will minimize the chances of damage. Always remove the vibrato arm (whammy bar) be for e closing the lid of the case. A convenient compartment is provided for safe storage of this arm when not in use. When transporting the guitar in a car, always keep the case on the floor so that it will not move around inside the car in case of a sudden stop. Also, avoid storing the guitar in the trunk of a car, where it may be exposed to extremes of heat and cold. Always avoid freezing temperatures, as this can result in the finish cracking. Avoid storage in direct sunlight. Your guitar will always look and sound its best if it is periodically cleaned.

The presence of this film can be detected as a general dull, and possibly wrinkled appearance on the surface. Also note the location of the guitar’s serial number on the plate on the neck mounting on the back of the guitar. Note down this number and make sure that you record it in your warranty in for mation and on your warranty card. Make certain that you return your completed warranty registration card to Burns USA to ensure complete warranty coverage. Strings The strings used on this guitar are medium weight. The frequency with which you should change your strings depends, of course, on how much you use your guitar. A good rule of thumb is to change your strings after about 20 hours of actual use, and at least every month. If a wound string breaks, it is usually best to replace the entire set.Thank you, for helping us keep this platform clean. The editors will have a look at it as soon as possible. The built-in pickup simulator lets you emulate many types of electric guitar pickups without the need to modify your favorite instrument: choose from a selection of popular guitar pickups or create your own. They can even be automated to follow the performance. Depending on which host application you use, you might need to install the plug-ins in different locations. Follow the steps of the wizard to install the software on your machine. During the installation you will be asked where you want the software to be installed. For the VST version, you should install the plug-in inside the VST plug-ins folder used by your host application(s). The default path set in the installer should work for most applications, but you should check your host software documentation to know where it looks for VST plug-ins. For other plug-in types, you should just use the standard path. It will take care of removing all files from your computer. After download, double click on the dmg file to open it. You can then double click on the installer (.pkg file) to install the package. Remove these directories only if you do not want to reuse this data later. Some host applications will require you to scan the plug-ins before they are available in the application. Once zoomed, you can drag the background to navigate in the map. Right click on the background to unzoom. A general UI lock is also available in the toolbar, if you want to keep the same user interface settings (window opacity.).

Sometimes you may also want to lock the virtual pots if you just want to switch pickups and hollow body while retaining the current pots settings. Amp simulation and effects plug-ins should be placed after Re-Guitar. Tip: did you know that you can lock the INPUT effects bin so that the settings of the Re-Guitar plug-in are kept while loading Axiom presets? You will still be able to adjust the settings later to reach the desired sound, but it will give you a good starting point: If the sound is still too bright after adjusting brightness, you can use the next category. You will find below more details about each type of simulation: But it depends on your playing and the acoustic sound you are looking for, so you may want to experiment with different settings to find the best combination. Adjust the thickness of the virtual body and select the amount of simulation to be added to the dry sound. You may also want to adjust the brightness when using it, as the simulation may reduce treble when using thicker bodies. They can also be automated in your DAW to follow the performance, or controlled with a foot controller in live situations, in order to keep the fingers on the strings. If you are already familiar with our products, you can skip this part. It means that the appearance and behavior of the user interface can be entirely customized. In some applications you may not be able to use all keys described later in this manual to interact with our plug-ins. It is usually made obvious to you to know the active surfaces of the skin (the places where you can click with the mouse): the mouse cursor usually changes when you can do something on a control. In the default skins delivered with the plug-in, the cursor changes to a small hand or an arrow to tell you when your mouse is over an active control. For example in Steinberg Cubase SX you cannot use the arrow keys to control the plug-in): You can also save your own presets and recall them later for other projects. Our plug-ins propose a full-featured preset manager to let you save, browse, organize and recall its presets. It displays the list of presets available for the plug-in as well as commands to load, save or organize presets: This preset is used every time a new instance of the plug-in is created. Each preset is stored as an individual file. You can create folders and subfolders in the Presets directory to classify your presets, as shown in the example below: To enable this feature, select a MIDI channel to receive the events from in the MIDI Program Change menu item from the presets menu: Program and bank numbers may change while you add folders and presets, so you should be careful when naming them if bank and program numbers matter to you. You can use either MIDI CC 0 or MIDI CC 32 to select banks. It is possible to customize the channel, control numbers, range and response curve used for each parameter in the settings panel available from the main menu (see the Plug-in Settings chapter for more details). When this feature is activated using the corresponding To end the learn mode, reopen this menu and deselect the option.

With some essential tweaks, good strings and careful setting up, it's possible to hone a budget guitar into a professional instrument. This manual offers tips, specialist advice and tricks of the trade that can be used to transform an off-the-shelf' entry-level guitar to provide feel, performance and sound to rival much more expensive instruments. In order to keep the instrument in the best possible condition and ensure the best playability, please follow the advice given for care, adjustment and correct usage. If you are unsure of what you are doing, please seek the help an experienced and qualified guitar technician in order to avoid possible irreparable damage to the guitar. Protect a guitar from damp conditions and avoid handling the instrument with wet hands. The instrument is made from some combustible materials. Used batteries should be disposed of correctly. Ensure that you compensate for this tension when changing strings or making adjustments. This is roughly the same level as is comfortable for a human being, so if you are comfortable so is your guitar. This can warp the neck and cause problems with the electronics. The results of this can include cracks in the fingerboard and the guitars? finish.

In extreme cases dryness can cause the fret ends to protrude from the edge of the fingerboard, and if the fingerboard has binding this may also crack. If possible keep the guitar in its case for a little while for the guitar to acclimatise to the outside temperature. That will help keep the tuning stable and prevent neck movement or cracks and other damage. This provides excellent protection against temperature, humidity and physical damage. Do not expose the guitar to any climate conditions or heat and humidity that you would not want to be exposed to yourself. Keep your guitar in tune and with a full set of strings on it as this will keep the neck in tension. Dirty strings also damage the frets themselves because the grime and rust makes the strings coarser. There are many types of string cleaners and for the most part, they are intended to be used after each playing session. Also wipe down the neck and remove any moisture from the guitar body, pickups etc. This will help prevent dirt build up and also help reduce any rusting on screws, pickups etc. They do not necessarily require oil, although a lemon oil or fingerboard cleaning oil can be used. More excessive dirt build up can be removed by using an Extra Fine sand paper (no coarser than a P600). After that, once the fingerboard is clean, wipe the entire surface with a good quality furniture oil (or gun stock oil) on a dampened cloth to seal it. The oil that is left behind will replenish the oil lost from the surface of the wood and help retard further losses. Use as little as possible; you only want to put a slight gloss on the surface, and only clean once or twice per year.Some-times just turning the pot or working the switch back and forth a few times is sufficient to clear the connection and remove the unwanted noise. If this has not worked then use a switch cleaner (contact cleaner) to remove any dirt or dust.If this is the case then it is preferable to replace all the strings at the same time.

If you are changing the gauge of your strings or altering the tuning of your guitar then the bridge settings may also need adjusting. To do this please refer to the page with details of the particular bridge fitted to your guitar. This will avoid over tuning the guitar, which can lead to string breakage. All Caparison Guitars are shipped with what we consider to be the best action for each model. Your style of playing, changing string gauge or the tuning of your guitar however may necessitate the need to alter the height of the strings. This can be done by raising or lowering the height of the bridge saddles. Please refer to the page with details of the particular bridge fitted to your guitar on how to do this.Intonation is adjusted by moving the string saddles either forward or backwards (to do this please refer to the page with details of the particular bridge fitted to your guitar). Make sure the guitar is in tune using an electronic tuner. Next play a harmonic on the 12th fret and compare that to the fretted note played on the 12th fret. If the intonation is correct then both notes should read the same on the tuner. If the 12th fret harmonic is sharp then the saddle needs to be moved forward, if it is showing flat then it needs to be moved back. Sometimes changes in humidity, climatic changes, different string gauges or tunings may require an adjustment of the truss rod in order to maintain a perfect string action. This is, of course, down to personal taste and your Caparison is supplied with the pickups adjusted to what we believe is their optimum height. To adjust the pickup height use the small screws either side of the pickup to either raise or lower them. As a general rule raising the height of the pickup will give you a louder, punchy and brighter sound but may have an adverse effect on your sustain. While lowering them will give you a smoother, warmer tone with a more dynamic range.
