You want emails for the business world to be correctly constructed in style and grammar.Useful for an occasional reference in grammar. For example, it's easy to forget the usage of a semicolon and colon when you don't use it all the time.Well organized and the spiral binding is so handy.I'm a grammar curmudgeon, had it drilled into me in middle school, so I know whereof I speak. While I don't agree with it all the time, its explanations and discussions of its rationale make excellent sense. As a writing professional, this is the only grammar and style manual I can or will recommend.I have purchased every new edition and have encouraged others in my office to do the same. In fact, the GRM is the number one reference manual used by my co-workers. Information is easy to find and the examples are very helpful. Overall the book is a great resource once you familiarize yourself with how to search your topic.I took minutes at meetings and typed a lot of narrative for federal and state reports. The book gets better with each edition adding new things to keep up with the technology of today's world. My favorite section of the book it the words that sound alike but spelled differently. If I am not sure on term papers or reports, I head to the GRM. It is a great book for secretaries and administrative assistants. They have added new sections to keep up with computer usage as in my days of high school and college, we were using manual and electric typewriters and computers are now the basic source for typing correspondence, reports, and all the computer software used in today's business world. I will always buy the latest edition, even though earlier editions, they only change a few words or things, but this is the best reference book to have in your library like a dictionary and thesaurus is.I am glad it was required because I am able to use it for my other courses. I will definitely be keeping this book FOREVER, even after I graduate. This book should be given out free by the colleges to all new students that enroll in college, because it can be helpful in any of the courses where you have to write papers. i.e.: English 101,102,103, etc.AWESOME book!!! If they come out with a newer version, I will likely by that one also.Thus far, this manual has met my expectations. For the most part it is easily organized. I gave it four stars because the e-book version is somewhat difficult to read and takes a while to load. There are certain reference links (at least you think they are links) in the book; however when you click on them they are not hyperlinks. I think when this book was written, it was not written for a e-book, but only hard cover. Being an HPT professional it is important that my writing is precise and crisp and I believe with this manual and much practice writing graduate papers and projects at work, my writing will improve. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a writer and desires to write and communicate effectively.

The rules of grammar have changed and the English language still remains to be one of the most difficult languages to master.It is a great book to have if you work in an office or if you are writing a lot of papers, or if you just are interested in proper writing techniques. I had to get this book for a class, and most people re-sell their school textbooks, but this one is one I will be keeping for my bookshelf forever. I really feel like it will be a handy book to fall back on later down the road in my career field.Early on after graduating from high school, I spent a year in secretarial school where I learned extensively about punctuation, sentence structure etc. In this class I found out that some rules have changed and I needed an upgrade. I am very happy with this book and I feel it will be an invaluable resource with both personal and business correspondence.
