It is a durable unit that is definitely designed for the professional user. It has nearly paid for its self. The next time I am looking for diagnostic equipment like this Extech and Amazon will be my first stop! I tried to measure the resistance of some small current transformers, and it won't measure them. A cheap 3 dollar meter measures them fine. 124 ohms. But this meter hangs up, and I think it has something to do with the auto range feature. It can measure resistance on resistors, but not on the coil. Also, I bought it to measure the inrush current on motors. It measured current but the peak was just unbelievably high for small motors. I called extech about these two problems and the tech person said the peak setting is definitely not for inrush current. It is not made for that. I thought peak would be for inrush but the person I talked to said no. They had no answer for the coil not measuring, and they will check it out. Answered phone right away and I spoke to a knowledgeable person. But I bought it to measure peak amps and with the resistance not working it makes we want to send it back. Please try again later. Almost every time I use this I have to refer to the manual and then when I do get it to read I'm afraid to trust it. I wouldn't wish this meter on anyone and I certainly wouldn't buy it again.
