Mark Goodwin 1.0 out of 5 stars The reason I bought this was I had one for years before. It is not me. Last time we got this item the book was at least a laminated pamphlet. Larger too. At least you could read it. How much does it cost to pint a piece of paper. I finally got the TV to work but no codes for the VCR, yes VCR I am one of those people. One thing about VHS you can drop it kick under the dresser, find it next season, blow off the dust and pop it in. Tapes have that new bookmark technology that blue-ray is bragging about. In other words it is right wear you left off amazing. For the remote itself, it got way lighter, thus way cheaper. The battery door broke in one day. (No I did not throw it across the room) maybe if I did that that a code may have woken up. I did not find any codes for the DVD player. Big surprise. Save your money. I don't know where you can find a better remote since everything is made so cheap today right down to the cars we drive. Maybe radio shack where some MAY know what you need. There is no more service these days too many Walmarts and not enough small business. I am sure I am not telling you something you already know. Well that's it. Hope it helps you not to waste your money.Everyone has just laughed at it but since it really does work its a functional gag gift heehee. But no big deal.Going to try a different brand and see otherwise maybe try the Flipper for him.They were always losing track of their remote between the couch cushions. It is almost impossible to lose this remote as it doesn't easily fall down cracks. It is a fun gag gift that is very useful and provides for some good conversation when guests visit. People love it.Perhaps we got a bad one and some work but the company wont email us back and It's not worth paying shipping to get a refund. Save your money and time and do not choose this remote wish we hadn't.

Everything works, I was able to program my TV very easily, comes with instruction manual which were easy to understand. It didn't have my TV manufacturer listed though, but I was able to find the code online. 0 out of 5 stars Mainly the instruction booklet is so tiny the size of a 3x5 card with teeny-tiny print that is impossible for me to read while having enough fingers to use a magnifier. Don't they know it may be a senior with bad eyes that would need big button remotes. Hence the instructions should also be readable. Well the thing wouldn't program automatically and I spent hours trying to read the codes and enter them before the little light went either off or on. Gave up, ridiculous waste of time. I'm returning it, at this point not sure if I will try another brand or not. Don't expect to get it programmed unless you know someone knowledgeable.He kept pressing the wrong buttons that surrounded the one he wanted to press on his old remotes and that would mess up his sound system, change the TV to the wrong input and SO many other things. He was always getting frustrated with things not working the way they should. This remote helped solve that problem for them. I had it set up within 10 minutes and was showing he and my grandma how to use it. My written directions on how to turn things on and off (they like me to write things down) went from two long pages of directions and contingencies to ONE page with 3 simple steps. As long as you don't have a really obscure brand of TV, this remote is a BREEZE to program with the included directions and device codes and the buttons are big enough that they aren't easily pressed by accident from being too small like regular remotes. I did not take the time to let the remote check EVERY SINGLE code it had stored to see if any would work.my solution was to just leave their surround sound on all the time and take that extra step out of the process. That ended up being better for my Grandpa anyway -- one less thing to remember to turn on and off when he wanted to watch TV. Overall -- great product.

This would make a great gag gift or, as in my case, a great gift for a Grandparent who needs a simple, easy to use, and BIG remote that they can see and use easily. Buying from Amazon is also a plus since it got to him in two days with Prime shipping:)You have to push the buttons multiple times, as the remote doesn't register 90 of the time, even when pointing directly at the device it's programmed for. This been driving me nuts that the instructions are wrong. Without that extra step it is the same as entering a code. Getting the code is very useful if the correct code for your brand is not on their list and you have to do a scan. While you can scan once and be done, you don't have the code to easily re-enter for when you have to replace the batteries (or the remote loses the code somehow) and you're stuck scanning through the codes (90 or so presses in my case). Even worse the Magnavox DVD player I was using it for takes a few seconds to actually turn off, so it receives the signal but you have usually already pressed power to cycle to the next code at least once by the time it shuts off. You have then passed the correct code and you will have to start again and be more careful aka press slower (so another 90 presses in my case). On a different note, the remote works perfectly for the DVD player, turning it off, playing, pausing, fast forward, rewind, arrow navigation. EXCEPT it can't turn it ON, yes it turns it off, but not on.Once again thanks a lot for posting the correct instructions on code retrieval for the jumbo remote.Or, if you already have an account, please login now.
