Given dimensions pr ovide minimum clearance. This range hood is recommended for use with cook tops with a maximum total rating of 65,000 BTUs or less. Grounded electrical outlet is required. See “Electrical Requirements” section. The canopy hood is factory-set for venting thr ough the roof or wall. For non-vented (recir culati ng) installation see “For Non- V ente d (Recirculating) Installation Only” in the “Connect V ent System” section. Recirculation Kit Part N umber W10692908 is available from your dealer or an authorized parts distributor. All openings in ceiling and wall where canopy hood will be installed must be sealed.The chimney extension replac es the chimney shi pped with the range hood. Rigid metal vent is recommended. Cold W eather Installations An additional back draft damper sh ould be installed to minimize backwar d cold airflow and a therm a l break should be installed to minimize conduction of outside te mperatures as part of the vent system. The damper should be on th e cold air side of the thermal break.
The brea k should be as close as possible to wher e the vent system enters the heated portion of the house. Makeup Air Local building codes may requir e the use of makeup air systems when using ventilation systems grea ter than specified CFM of air movement. The specified CFM vari es from locale to locale. Consult your HV AC professional for specific r equirements in your area. Flexible vent creates back pr essure and air turbul ence that greatly reduce performance. V ent system can terminate either th rough the r oof or wall. V ented Installations Min.Fumes a nd vapors are r ecycled through the top grille. Calculating V ent System Length T o calculat e the length of th e system you need, add the equivalent feet (meters) for each vent piece used in the system. Maximum equivale nt vent length is 35 ft (10.7 m). Example vent sy stem The following example falls wi thin the maximum recommended vent length of 3 5 ft (10.7 m). Electrical Requir ements Observe all governing codes an d or dinances. If codes permit and a separate gr ound wire is used, it is recommended that a qualified el ectrician determine that the ground path is adequate.Mark a refere nce line on the wall. 3. T ape template in place, a ligning the template centerline a nd bottom of template with hood bottom line and with the centerline ma rked on the wall. 4. Mark centers of the fastener locations through the template to the wall. IMPORT ANT: All canopy mounting screws to be installed into wood where possible. Tighten until wall anchors ar e secure. Complete Pr eparation 1. Determine and make all necessary cuts in the wall for the vent system. Install the vent system be for e installing the hood. NOTE: Do not reconnect power until installation is complete. 4. Use caulk to seal all openings. Install In-Line Smart Kit - Optional NOTE: Y our range hood can work with either an internal or an in- line (external) blower motor system.

Fit vent system over transition piece. 2. Seal connection with clamps. 3. The range hood controls ar e loc ated on the front side of t he canopy. Sleep Mode The range hood automatically en ters Sleep Mode when not in use. After 10 minutes of no range hood activity, all of the control button lights will tur n Off. T o deactivate Sleep Mode, press any button. Auto Sense Auto Sense allows the range hood fan to tur n on automatically when it senses heat higher than i ts allowable temperature limit. When Auto Sense i s On, the fan speed will increase or decr ease based on the temperature Auto Sense is measuring. Auto Sense can be manually increased by pressing a higher fan speed. The fan will run at th e selected speed for 10 minutes before returning to the speed selected f or Auto Sense. If Auto Sense is On, the Auto button light will turn Off and go into Sleep Mode when the vent hood is not in use. If the vent hood is turned On by the consumer or by Auto Sense, the Auto button light will tur n On. T o set Auto Sense: Press AUTO. T o Select Auto Sense Cooktop T ype: NOTE: The range hood is factor y-set for the gas cooktop mode. Press and hold AUTO for 5 seconds to switch between the gas cooktop and electric cooktop modes. The Auto button light wil l flash 5 times when the range hood is changed to the electric cooktop mode.

Auto Sense is now set to work with electric cooktops and ranges. The Auto button light wil l flash 3 times when the range hood is changed to the gas cooktop mode. Auto Sense is now set to work with gas cooktops and ranges. Changing the cooktop type will change the temperature limit for Auto Sense to tur n On. When the range hood senses a high enough temperature, the fan will start automati cally. When the temperature drops below the set temperature limit, the fan will stop automatically. The Auto button light will tur n Off after the range hood enters Sleep Mode, but Auto Sense is still active. T o Deactivate Auto Sense: If the Auto button is lit, press AUTO once to deactivate Auto Sense. The Auto button light will tur n Off. If Auto Sense is in Sleep Mode, pr ess AUTO once to deactivate Sleep Mode and turn on the Auto button light. Press AUTO again to deactivate Auto Sense and turn off the Auto button light. Auto Sense will tur n off automatically after 2 hours of no activation of the Auto Sense system. T o reset Auto Sense, press AUTO. Med Press MED to turn the fan on at Medium speed. Hi Press HI to turn the fan on at High speed. Boost Pr ess BOOST to tur n the fan on at the highest speed. Boost will automaticall y turn Off after 10 minutes and the fan will switch to High speed. The fan will run on the chosen spe ed for 15 minute s and the fan speed button light will flash conti nuously. After 15 minutes, the fan will tur n Off automatically. 2. Press the desir ed fan speed button again while the fan timer is running t o cancel the fa n timer. NOTE: Changing the fan speed or tur ning Auto Sense On will also cancel the 15-minute timer. Light The range hood has both task and ambient lighting. T o operate the lights: 1. T ouch LIGHT once to turn th e LED task lights On. 2. T ouch LIGHT again to turn LED task lights Off. The ambient lights will turn On. 3. T ouch LIGHT a third time to turn the ambient lights Off.
NOTE: T o turn both the task and a mbient lights on at the same time, touch and hold LIGHT for 2 seconds. T ouch LIGHT again to turn the task and ambient lights Off. RANGE HOOD CARE Cleaning IMPORT ANT: Clean the hood and grease filters fr equently according to the following instructions. Replace grease filters before operating hood. Exterior Surfaces: T o avoid damage to the exterior surface, do not use steel wool or soap-filled scouring pads. Always wipe dry to avoid water marks. Metal Greas e Filter 1. Open the stainless s teel panel. Grasp panel at the front corners and pull down to d isengage the 2 catch p ins from the spring catches. The panel is attach ed at the rear and will rotate down. 2. Remove each filter by pulling the spring release handle and then pulling down the filter. 3. W ash metal filters as needed in dishwasher or hot detergent solution. 4. Reinstall the fil ter by making sure the spring r elease handles are toward the front. Insert aluminum filter i nto upper track. 5. Push in spring release handle. 6. Push up on metal filter and rele ase h andle to latch into place. 7. Repeat steps 1 th rough 5 for the othe r filter. 8. Close the stainless steel panel. Engage the (2) pins in the spring catches to secure. Non-V ented (Recirculating) Installatio n Filters The charc oal filter is not washable. It shoul d last up to 6 months with normal use. Replace with C harcoal Filter Kit. See the “Accessories” section for information on ordering. T o replace char coal filter: 1. Remove metal grease filter from range hood. See “Metal Grease Filter” in this section. 2. Bend spring clips away from metal grease filter. 3. Place char coal filter into top side of metal filter. A. Metal filters B. Stainless steel panel C. For Cabine t Installations 1. If cabinet has recessed bottom, a dd wood filler strips on each side. Install scr ews to attach fi ller strips in locations shown. See Step 2 for wiring hole location instruction s. 1. Determine and clea rly mark a vertical centerline on the wal l and cabinet in the area the vent open ing will be made. 2. T o wire th rough top: Mark a line dista nce “A” from the left of th e centerline on th e underside of the cabinet. Lift the range hood up un de r cabinet and determine final location by centering beneath ca binet. Mark on the underside of cabinet the location of the 4 keyhole mounting slots on the range hood. Mark a refer ence line on the wall. 3.
Using 2 or more people, center the hood on the vertical centerline, then align the bottom of the hood with the horizontal reference line marked on the wall. 4. Mark centers of t he fastener loca tions to the wall. Set range hood aside on a cove red su rface. IMPORT ANT: All screws must be installed into wood. Install the v ent system before installing the hood.If using r ound vent, r emove top rectangular knockout. Tighten the strain relief scr ews. 6. Position the range hood so that the lar ge end of th e keyhole slots are over the mounting screws. Then, push the hood toward the wall (for cabinet mounting) or allow the range hood to slide down to the marked mounting height (for wall mounting) so that the scr ews ar e in the neck of the slots. Tighten the mounting screws, making sure the scr ews are in the narrow neck of slots. (For wall mount, check that the hood is level). 7. Connect ventwork to hood. Seal joints w ith clamps to make secur e and airtight. 8. Check that back draft dampers work pr operly. Make Electrica l Connection 1. Disconnect power. 2. RANGE HOOD USE The range hood is designed to re move smoke, cooking vapors and odors from the cooktop ar ea. T ur n the blower switch to the second position to tur n the range hood on Medium. 3. T ur n the blower switch to the third position to tur n the range hood on Medium - High. 4. T ur n the blower switch to the High position to turn the range hood on High. 5. T ur n the blower switch to the Off position to turn the range hood blower Off. Fan control A B Replace grease filters before operating hood. Metal Greas e Filter T o Remove Metal Grease Filters: 1. Use 2 hands to remove the metal grease filters. Grasp filter handles, push t oward the rear of the range hood and pull down on the front handle to remove. 2. Repeat for each gr ease filter. 3. W ash metal grease filters as ne eded in a dishwasher or hand wash in a hot detergent solution to clean. T o Reinstall Metal Grease Filters: 1. Grasp filter handles and place r ear of filter into re ar track. 2. Push down on the rear handle an d set the front of the grease filter i nto the fro nt track t o secur e. 3. Repeat for each filter. Replacing a Halogen La mp T ur n off the range hood and allow the halogen lamp to cool. T o avoid damage or decr easing the life of the new bulb, do not touch bulb with bare fingers. Replace bulb, using tissue or wearing cotton gloves to handle bulb. If new lamps do not operate, make sur e the lamps ar e inserted correctly befo re calling service. 1.
Disconnect power. 2. Push up on the lens and tur n it counterclockwise. 3. Remove the bulb and replace it with a 120-volt, 50-watt maximum halogen bulb with a GU10 base. T urn it clockwise to lock it into place. 4. Repeat steps 2-3 for the other bulb if neede d. 5. Reconnect pow er. It is preset for use with natural gas and must be converted for use with LP gas. If cabinet storage is to be provided, the risk can be reduced by installing a range hood that projects horizontally a minimum of 5 inches beyond the bottom of the cabinets. This appliance is designed to operate at a pressure of 5 inches of water column on natural gas or, if converted for use with LP gas (propane or butane), 10 inches water column.
