What are people giving for these. I was going to but it for a back-up saw- if anything. Thanks guys! Sort of an early version of what market segment is now occupied by the 550XP and 2253 which should be here in a couple weeks. At the dealer meeting introducing this saw, they filled one up, taped the throttle wide open and let it run til it was out of gas. Then did it again. He said it never sold that well since is was priced about the same as a 621. My own evaluation of this saw is that it's not the power that is the big deal. It's a good running 44cc closed port saw, but nothing spectacular. What must have been special at the time was how light this thing was and how well it handled. Keep in mind, we are talking mid 1970's here. So try and think of what else was on the market back then. As I've said a few times here, I think most Jonnys from that era were somewhat ahead of their time and can still be run today without feeling like you are running an older saw. And the 451 because of it's light weight is probably the best of all of them in that regard. A 52E or 49SP is a better choice as a firewood saw, but the 451 is a special little saw just the same. About the only 2 parts they share are the muffler and clutch cover. There was two types of ignitions and not the strongest either of them. It can be found with some different carbs but I think HK is most common.

About the only 2 parts they share are the muffler and clutch cover. Thanks! Is this the same? Does anyone have a work shop manual for this saw. I was really shocked I think this is the earliest saw I've heard of with heated handles. I also have a 630 with heated bars but obviously much newer. I really want to get this old girl running. Really neat piece of history. Learn more - opens in a new window or tab This amount is subject to change until you make payment. There is a general section dealing with the maintenance of saws, chain and bars. There also is contained reasonable good section for troubleshooting saw operation. This manual is a must for anyone that whats to maintain and repair this equipment or simply wants to get to know more than the operators manuals give you. I needed a manual to help me rebuild the top end. This manual did not cover my saw specifically but did have the model's previous incarnation (close enough). The manual had 5 pages of model specific drawings with the same instructions that the other Husky models carried. The drawings were of dis-assembled parts with no information on how to get there. Worse, there was no information on nut and bolt sizes or torque specifications for re-assembly. The manual was economically priced however and will make a great addition to my bathroom library.

Jonsered manufactures a variety of chainsaws, both for residential and commercial use. You can consider what type of activities you plan on undertaking when selecting a Jonsered chainsaw. What are some ways to differentiate chainsaws. Length of the guide bar: The guide bar is a part that holds the chain during cutting and its length is an important feature to consider. A longer guide bar will enable you to cut larger trees. Remember, however, that larger guide bars are heavier. Guide bars generally come in lengths of 14 feet, 16 feet, 18 feet, and 20 feet. The chainsaws with shorter guide bars weigh around 10 pounds, and the chainsaws with longer bars can weigh up to 13 pounds. Gas or electric power: Jonsered electric chainsaws are either battery-driven or corded. Those that are battery-driven come with rechargeable batteries. Electric chainsaws are lighter than their gas counterparts and do not give off emissions. Gas chainsaw options are often heavier and more powerful. What are some of the safety features of Jonsered chainsaws. Jonsered Chainsaws have been made with several mechanisms to help with user safety. These include: Throttle lock: This prevents the throttle from being accidentally engaged. Rubber to reduce vibrations: Dealing with vibrations can cause fatigue to set in, which could lead to more unsafe operation.
If those vibrations are reduced, you can use a chainsaw more safely and for a greater amount of time. Chain catcher: This device can prevent the chain from flying backward and injuring the operator. Chain brake: The brake can either triggered by the motion of the saw during kickback or if the left wrist strikes the kickback guard. The chain brake can stop the chain in less than a second. Front hand guards: This is a protective piece that protects your fingers if the chain breaks or jumps off. What different types of Jonsered chainsaws are available. They can be used to cut branches of up to 7 inches in diameter. Top handle: Designed for elevated wood cutting, top-handle Jonsered chainsaws are meant for awkward positions because they are light and powerful. So might have been old fuel??? I changed the intake just to be sure because they had problems with screws backing out and sucking air. The problem I have now is the saw will run great for about 1 min with a full tank of fuel. I have pulled the vent filter out and can move air thru it. I can pressurize the fuel tank and hear air flow out the vent. The saw is not that old for the vent to be gunked up.Would you like to try it too? Please try again later.
