In this case, a potential angle for your essay could be explaining a dream of yours is to publish a fictional book that incorporates the phenomenons of physics. If possible, include an anecdote! That said, it shouldn’t be a random fact or tidbit; it needs to be more fundamental to what makes you who you are. Choose a specific quality about yourself—maybe you love trying as many new things as possible, for example—and then tell a story about this that ties into how the quality is a key component of what makes you, you. The questions ask for short, rapid-fire responses that give you the opportunity to let your individuality shine. Make your response more interactive by including descriptive words that appeal to the senses, especially taste and smell. Also, if you’re using another language or describing a less common food, feel free to provide a short description or explanation so that someone who’s never heard of it before can still imagine it. Be genuine in your response, but take this opportunity to stand out rather than providing a generic answer. Franklin’s diverse student body contributes to the overall learning experience for its students. Academic Travel courses involve preparation for the travel component, followed by exams or writing assignments towards the end of the semester. Your FUS courses fulfill USC requirements when you continue at USC beginning in the spring. For example, taking five 3-credit courses at FUS will earn 15 transferable semester credits which convey to USC. Below you will find examples of FUS courses you may choose. This does in fact shape the ways in which students live in the community, where for instance, recycling has been required for all residents for decades in a country that is very keen on preserving its beautiful environment. By spending a semester in Switzerland, you will also have the opportunity to experience the local fall festivals in the wine-growing region around Lake Lugano and Lake Como, visit famous Christmas markets in Germanic Swiss cities such as Basel and Bern, and enjoy the many music and cultural festivities in Lugano. Lugano has traditionally been popular amongst tourists from the north, who enjoy the warmer Mediterranean weather south of the Alps. It is not unusual to see palm trees on the lake promenade with snow-peaked Alps in the distance. Besides the natural beauty of the region, Lugano is also known as a major finance and service center for Switzerland, while the region hosts a number of international companies such as VF (NorthFace, Timberland, Vans), Armani, or Acer. Many students will make use of the rail networks that connect the country (even in remote Alpine regions). From the main station of Lugano, students can reach the nearest Italian border towns of Ponte Tresa (with an excellent Saturday open air market) or Como in 20 minutes; the vibrant German-speaking cities of Zurich or Luzern in 2-3 hours, or the French-speaking cities of Fribourg, Geneva and Lausanne in 4-5 hours.
While there is a small airport in Lugano, there are also 3 airports around nearby Milan, including Malpensa International Airport (with a direct shuttle bus to Lugano). During orientation in August you will meet other students on the same program. You will be assigned a FUS academic advisor who is familiar with USC requirements and can assist with your planning. Toward the end of the fall semester you will receive guidance directly from USC advisors as you attend USC's Winter Orientation for Spring Admits. FUS is accustomed to working with students from around the world, and will be responsive and supportive to your needs as you plan your arrival to Switzerland. Sallie Mae is not a preferred lender of FUS; however, there are no other private loan options for US students at “foreign schools” located outside the United States. Following orientation, you will meet with a FUS advisor familiar with USC requirements, who will advise you in the optimal choice of courses which match your interests. Study abroad students usually live in triples, doubles or split double apartments. While all residence halls have kitchens, and students often cook some of their own meals, Franklin has two dining halls on campus with two to three meals served daily, depending on the day of the week or the break schedule. Laundry facilities are included in each residence hall. Each residence hall has a trained Resident Assistant, who will support new students as they transition to university life. Students who enroll by May 1st will receive housing information and preference forms in the mail (along with student visa information) by mid-May. Besides that, this school is great with a good atmosphere and nice people. I had the misfortune of getting terrible roommates and also did not make much of an effort to socialize because it is very party oriented. Because of this, my time and USC was really disappointing and not at all what I expected. The campus is big, so you will have to walk some, but there are shuttle services, bike racks and tons of walking paths. Lots of places to eat and places to go. Great city and kind people. Many people come here from around the world and are either in the Business School or Medical Program. Most of my professor are friendly and willing to help me succeed. It's a home away from home, and the business school is incredible. If you come here you will not regret it. Football season is crazy and our baseball team is phenomenal as well (and extremely attractive). Join Greek life if you come here - it's huge. Overall, I am very pleased with my decision to be a Gamecock! There are seven libraries on the campus but for the most part you only use one or two- they're nice but it can be a little frustrating to maneuver them and sometimes they seem more like a social meeting area than a library. Everyone on campus will go out of their way to help you with anything you need. Everything on campus is within walking distance and the staff everywhere are very nice and helpful. The people are great, the environment is awesome, the atmosphere on campus is excellent. Overall, I would not rather be at any other university in the country. The professors are lazy. The classes are unorganized. I am transferring from USC Columbia.This is the school of my dreams. The professors are all trying to help you and are also really interesting to speak with outside of class as well. The sports and bars are unbearably fun, too.
Everyone is supportive of each other, including the faculty. There is a sense of community when you are on campus and it is thrilling. I love my school and everyone who is apart of the Gamecock family! I enjoyed all my classes and the professors were great (possibly the school's strongest point). Campus was gorgeous. Columbia is mostly a college town, however, so beware if you are coming from a city proper. Girls here are very trashy-looking, but at least they're nice. Oh, and the library's amazing. I'm home at South Carolina, and I love being a gamecock! I honestly don't click with usual social life here but it isn't that bad. If you're interested in Greek life, you'll be happy. A vast amount of opportunities if you take advantage of them. Greek life is big and does a lot more than just party. There is always something do - bars, concerts, farmers markets, festivals. With every apartment complex having a pool, it feels more like summer camp than college Sports games are a blast. Campus is scenic and dorms are better than average (especially upperclassman dorms). I wish there were more off campus housing options that are closer to campus, more things to do around Columbia, and more diversity. Sometimes USC seems too small but I come from a large city. I loved all my professors and the support network there was just amazing. Everything was just incredible. I am proud to call myself a Gamecock. The food is really good the first 200 times you eat it, then it gets real old real fast. SEC football, huge Greek Life, tons of networking opportunities since you're in the state capitol. Such a fun student body and social life mixed with respected academics. Especially instate you can't beat the costbenefit. If you're going for business don't even bother looking at other schools. Don't want to leave! Also, the campus is BEAUTIFUL, but beware of the sidewalks, they are made of brick and are uneven. Also, don't be fooled into thinking it will be warm all the time.
It gets cold around mid October. The campus environment is amazing, and the campus itself is beautiful. Columbia is a great town that has plenty of stuff to do for fun. USC is the perfect blend of a city feel and a small town feel. Unsafe city too. I do not feel comfortable walking alone on campus. It is hard to make friends because it is SO big. Beautiful campus, but it is not for everyone. Football season and 5 points make this campus so great. The dorms are old but only freshman live on campus. The Greek Village is legit and the best in the state. This school can be competitive when applying for certain majors so watch out. What more can you say? Only bad thing about campus right now is all the construction, but it's just making for an even better experience. If you're considering coming here, make it happen! I've hated it since my first semester here. I've had the occasional good class and advisor. The core requirements are just a way for them to get more money. My dorm room was covered in mold and the water was brown. I love football, but the university cares more about sports than education. The campus is a mess, no one has any respect for their school and the location is extremely dangerous. Transferring out as soon as possible. DO NOT GO HERE! Good teachers every once in a while, but the quality of education was about that of the community college I transferred in from. There are a lot of choices for meals (fast food, cafes, buffet), but sometimes the dining staff seems as if they don't know what they are doing (e.g. away from cash register, certain items gone some days). Nice location and campus Awesome student life especially in the fall with Gamecock footballtailgating. Wonderful academic community. Great weather. Close to bigger cities than Columbia like Charlotte and Atlanta. Plus the beach is a short drive too. I highly recommend USC. Unreal buisness school, and beautiful location. There's no where else like it.
