I think you buy this product your just rolling the dice.I generally stuck with the standard oem version but I saw this and it looked nice. Had all the buttons I use. Right out of the package it turned on my tv. I also have a vizio sound bar and I didn't even need to program that either. I pushed the volume button and it turned it right on. All the buttons work exactly as they are supposed to. I do not have a new Vizio tv. I have an E series smart tv that I bought back in 2014 or 2015. If needed, I will buy this remote again.I was worried it might not work.I’m happy with my purchase but deducting one star because the battery compartment was a bit difficult to find, then a bit difficult to open. I’d easily recommend this remote to anyone needing a replacement remote for a vizio smart tv.I’m still waiting for seller to respond regarding how to install. The side piece broke whilst I was trying to open plus my fingers are sore.The remote to the 55 inch VIZIO was broken because it got mauled by the black lab we used to have. Anyway, it basically looks almost like the remote that came with the TV originally only there isn't the VIZIO logo in the center where you push when setting up stuff.(It's the OK button) My really big major problem that we ran into with this new remote is that it was so hard to open to put the dang batteries in it. I couldn't get it open. My husband finally did but I think he broke a piece off in the side in the process of trying to get it open. I know these should be tight when they are brand new but not so tight that you can't get it open without breaking it.
He had to piece stuff back together before he could put the batteries in it and put the cover back on. I don't know who is manufacturing these remotes but this should never be an issue. They are definitely not what I would call compliant with the American's with Disabilities laws. Anyone with Arthritis will most likely not be able to open it at all like in my case. I know these remotes cost a bit more if you buy them direct from VIZIO. If I need to replace another remote, I think I will be going to them first next time for a replacement if we still have our 2 VIZIO TV's. It's too bad they don't make the universal remotes with a menu button to bring up the TV menu. We never have come across anything so hard to open. My husband and I are dreading when we have to replace the batteries. This remote compared to the original remotes that came with the TV's seems to be made out of cheaper thinner plastic materials as well. It's so typical of so many things that are being manufactured in China which is where this remote was made. Definitely need to get back to making stuff in America. Definitely needs to be made with better quality materials. I don't think this remote even went through a QC check at the factory where it was made. Again, so typical with stuff made in China these days. Once we were finally able to place the batteries in the remote and put it back together, it worked fine with our TV as it should. But then, I don't really have a complaint about how it works, my main complaint is how cheaply made it is that it's so ridiculously difficult to get open that we wound up breaking it and had to piece it back together again before we could actually use it so that we could set up the TV to broadcast free over the air TV channels. I cannot in all good conscious recommend this remote. It would be better to get one direct from VIZIO and hopefully they aren't selling the same cheap made in China stuff.
I was so confused that I went back to check my order to make sure I bought it new and not used. I did indeed buy it new. The remote works fine but it’s extremely cheap looking and feeling when you pick it up. The only thing it has going for it is that it does work like it says it does. Of course, the Amazon, Netflix, etc.Most remotes have easy access to input batteries.this does not. you have to pull the remote completely apart to install the batteries. Once pulled apart, the whole remote came apart. Made in China. What a mistake I made, purchasing this crap!
