Alyssa 4.0 out of 5 stars The reasons I got this edition and not the limited edition I say below: My friend and I both got pokemon, I black, him white. He also got the limited edition version of the guide while I got this one. The differences between the two are none in terms of content guide for gameplay, the only extra stuff the limited edition has is the pokedex and the removable cover (which makes it look like a high school yearbook). When I looked at all the pokemon data in the back of his book the text was very small for my eyes, and my eyesight is by no means bad. While the second book (the pokedex) is not out for the regular editions yet I can guess (or hope) that it will have larger text than his did. She's never seen a pokemon book before, so I think her judgement about the book is the least biased because she doesn't have other pokemon books to compare it to. She doesn't say it's great, but she reads it all the time and has it on our coffee table. So it must mean that it's a very helpful book.Well, there's no Pokedex. There's no list of moves or abilities and no list of items. Pretty much anything you'd like to flip to the back of the book to look up isn't actually there.

I assumed I'd have to wait until Volume 2 for all of these things, so I'm not too disappointed about that, but I AM a bit taken aback that there isn't so much as a simple list or index of the new Unova region Pokemon anywhere in this volume. That, I think, will be sorely missed, even once we have Volume 2 in hand. So, overall, a very useful reference book, but I'd heartily recommend planning to buy both volumes once available or going with the Collector's Edition instead.Very fast delivery aswellThis book is a must. Jennifer 5.0 out of 5 stars This is a hardcover collector's edition for Pokemon Black and Pokemon white versions. It includes the offical strategy guide and the Unova region Pokedex. Each book is individually numbered inside the front cover. The lenticular cover is really more of a removable poster, printed on flexible yet sturdy plastic. I'm thinking of framing it to hang on the wall. It is a very cool image that transforms from Reshiram to Zekrom depending on the viewing angle. Also included is a small removable Unova region full-color map with a Type Matchup Chart on the back. The first part of the book (up to page 56) is an introduction to the game that will be useful for new or experienced players.

http://thefaceandbodyclinic.co.uk/dynamicdata/database-instruction-manual.xml

About half the book (pages 57-234) is a complete walkthrough of the games, very similar to other offical Pokemon strategy guides. After the walkthrough is a list of all trainers that you have battled in the game, though it only shows what they look like, their location and what item they have, it doesn't have any information about what Pokemon they own, making it not very useful for completing your Pokedex. A few pages before the Pokedex itself are dedicated to Pokemon that can change forms. This includes three Unova region Pokemon but the rest are familiar such as Rotom, Giratina and Magnezone. The remainder of the book (about 80 pages) is the Unova Pokedex. Interesting Victini, the only Psychic Fire type pokemon, is the last entry in the Pokdex and is numbered 000. Thus the Unova region Pokedex contains a total of 153 Pokemon (numbered 000-152). It also doesn't have much post-story line game play information. But I consider those minor flaws, and it is possible that information will be (or is) available in other guides. For the Pokemon fan who is playing either the Black or White version, I would highly recommend this book as a complete walkthrough guide and Unova region Pokedex in a beautiful package. That's where this guide comes in. This guide has a walk-through, letting you know what items and pokemon can be found where. It's a little off, though. I didn't find some of the fighting pokemon around Pinwheel forest, for instance, that it claimed were there. There's a pokedex in the back, but of course, this is for only the new pokemon. I chose the collector's edition because it combines the other two books available, plus it's all put together in a single, nice hardcover. There's a few bonuses, like a chart, separate from the book, that shows which types are strong against which types. This will be mounted on my wall eventually, for quick reference. I am waiting for a guide that truly explains pokemon battle strategies, though. Which stats do I want and why.

http://www.diamondsinthemaking.com/content/boss-dd-6-service-manual

Which abilities, traits, moves are more useful than others. They do this to an extent for some things (like which pokemon can use multiple HM moves for getting around). There are a few lists that I didn't think were very necessary, e.g. a list of every trainer you can battle in the game. I expected this edition to contain all of the contents of the standard Vol. 1 and 2 books combined. Like other reviews have mentioned, there is actually a small advertisement for the Vol. 2 guidebook within the collector's edition book. I can easily look up abilities and moves online, but I like the convenience of having it all in a book that's easy to navigate. So if you're looking for a guidebook with items, TMs, moves, abilities, etc., go with Vol. 2. In terms of quality, however, the collector's edition is beautiful. The hardcover is gorgeous, and the book actually feels and looks like something of value, unlike the guidebooks I've had for previous Pokemon games.I decided for the hardbound version because the Pokemon Platinum guide I purchased for them fell to pieces after years of use. The book is beautifully bound with silver foil inlays of two of the new pokemon on the cover and a pokeball on the back. The pages are tightly bound and the book and the illustrations of the new pokemon are very nicely done. If there is a drawback it is that the paper should really be a bit thicker and there really should be an index. The book does include the pokedex, but it does not include any post game material. Sadly it doesn't look like there will be a companion hardback for the post game material so I will have to buy the paperback. I was really hoping that there would be a section explaining stats, IVs, and EVs but there isn't. This shortcoming aside, it is a nice book and well worth owning. It is nice to have a pokedex tooPrima games is continuing the scam of releasing the guide in two parts, each of which are full price.

http://www.liceoantoniotoledo.com/images/04-cavalier-manual-transmission-fluid.pdf

The first part (this guide) contains a walkthrough of the game, a Unova Pokedex, and various other details. Doing this is nothing more than a money grab on the part of Prima Games and really lowers my opinion of them. With that out of the way, I will conduct my review proper. As for the quality of the guide, it is simply average. The hardcover is very nice, as is the the cover artwork, but the actual pages are very very thin. For me personally I would really like to see higher quality paper, but I may just have been spoiled by the Final Fantasy XIII Collectors Edition guide by Piggyback which came on very thick, art quality paper. Also, the so called poster map of the Unova Region is really false advertising, as it is no bigger than a piece of paper, which I absolutely not consider a poster. The information that you do get in the guide is complete enough. The walkthrough is decent, pointing out all major and minor events as well as gives maps of every major city, route, and dungeon. All items are pointed out on these maps, but hidden items are not, I really really wish they would include these on the maps as there are always a large number of these hidden items scattered throughout each area of the game. In addition to all this, maps also include lists of all Pokemon that can be caught, and what the conditions are to get them to appear. While the walkthrough information, at least for the main story is very complete, I am not a fan of how the information is laid out as it involves a lot of page turning. For those that are interested in what exactly is included in this guide, I will list the major items from the table of contents. Unova Region Map, Weekly Event Calendar, Daily event list, Key Characters, Various information for newbies, Walkthrough, Trainer List, Pokemon form changes and special evolutions, and the Unova Pokedex, and an Index. With all that said, I would very much recommend this guide to anyone interested.

And this strategy guide will introduce to you: The book covers the games up through the end of the main plot. The collector's edition features a hard cover with a special lenticular cover featuring Reshiram and Zekrom. You can help Bulbapedia by expanding it. They are being developed by Game Freak, and published by Nintendo, for the Nintendo DS. They were released on September 18, 2010 in Japan, March 4 in European coutries, March 6 in North America and March 10 in Australia. Among the new Pokemon to debut are the three starter Pokemon, Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott, along with Zoroark and its pre-evolution Zorua, and two legendaries, Reshiram and Zekrom. The games feature several new technological updates, including full 3D movement, routes and cities, and a redesigned battle scene. They take place in a new region known as Unova, which is said to be a foreign area, located far away from the previous regions. They are sequels to Pokemon Black and White, breaking the pattern set by Pokemon Yellow, Crystal, Emerald and Platinum. They were released on June 23, 2012 in Japan, October 7 in North America, October 11 in Australia, and October 12 in Europe. The games feature two new forms of Kyurem that serve as the version mascots of the games: Black Kyurem for Black 2 and White Kyurem for White 2.They include many new features such as new locations and characters. There are 300 Pokemon to be found in Unova, all of which have their own strengths and weaknesses. Your goal is to journey across the Unova region with your Pokemon and collect all eight Gym badges. Doing so, you'll be able to challenge the Elite Four and Champion. Along the way, you'll encounter the evil Team Plasma, who want to take over the Unova region and must be stopped.

You'll also meet up with several other characters, such as Hugh, your rival, Colress, a Pokemon researcher who wants to draw out the strength of Pokemon, and Cheren and Bianca, the rivals from Black and White, who assist you on your journey. This item is used in battles to increase the speed of pokemon. Behind the buildings in the lower right corner of the city, you will find a man. Talk to him to receive a free Dusk Ball. This type of ball more easily capture the nocturnal Pokemon and Pokemon living in caves. Enter the first building of the city and talk to the man for a Great Ball. In the southwest of the city there is another Great Ball. Between school trainers and talk to the boy. Answer the quiz him for a Full Heal. The answers are, Antidote and Awakening. If you go to the Gym, there will be a man outside. He tells you that you can not enter the Gym yet, so walk away. Next to the Pokemon Center is the Trainers' School. Before you go there go to the North East of Striaton City. You are about to enter The Dreamyard Use these two to train up your Pokemon. There is a lady after Youngster Joey who will give you a new Pokemon dependent on the Pokemon you stared with. If you chose Snivy at the start then the lady will give you a Panpour, if you chose Tepig at the start then the lady will give you a Pansage and if you chose Oshawott at the start then the lady will give you a Pansear. Do not forget to grab the X Defend, which is right lady. There is more to do here but for now return to Striaton City. While this can be done before you go to The Dreamyard, it is highly recommended you go after The Dreamyard, as at the board at the back of the room is Cheren. Talk to him and battle him.The starter will be holding a berry. If you have Pansear, use Incinerate to burn it. You will receive 3 Oran Berries as a prize. Once you have defeated him you may visit the Gym.He is one of the Gym leaders, Cilan.

Anyway, to prep you for the fight, he gives you some Fresh Water, which heals 50 HP when you use it. That very well may come in handy in your fight, because the Gym Leader is pretty tough. There's a curtain with a color and a symbol on it that clearly represents an elemental type. Beneath the curtain are three buttons you can step on: one for Fire, one for Water, and one for Grass. It shouldn't take a genius to figure out which is which. In order to drop the curtain, you need to step on the button that beats the type on the curtain. The tough part is dealing with the rather strong Waiter and Waitress inside; Waiter Maxwell uses a fierce Lillipup L11 which hits pretty hard, while Waitress Tia uses a Patrat L10 and a Purrloin L10. Beware the Patrat, because it has Bide, which will cause it to wait two turns before attacking you for double the damage you did to it during that time. The best thing to do if it looks like it's getting angry or whatever is to just use moves like Growl, Tail Whip, and Leer, then attack when it is not saving strength. You can also switch to a not-as-often-used Pokemon to take the hit if you accidentally hit it.Before you do, go back to the Pokemon Center to heal up your Pokemon, then save your game when you get near the Gym Leader. If your starting Pokemon was Snivy, you'll have to fight against the fiery Chili; if your starter was Tepig, you're going up against the cool Cress; and if your starting Pokemon was Oshawott, you're gonna have to take on the green Cilan, the one you meet outside the gym, before you went inside. Before going into battle, give the Oran Berries to your Pokemon, and make sure they are at least at level 12.Atk by one stage, increasing their potential to do damage by a lot. You do not want them to use that move too many times. If you have it available, you should counter with Growl right away, especially against Lillipup and Pansage (Cilan's green monkey), as they only have Physical-based attacks.

One cool thing you may notice is that the music changes when the Gym Leader sends out their last Pokemon, making the fight even more dramatic. Thankfully, none of the monkeys have a lot of defenses, so as long as you hit hard and hit often, you should be good.It will be resistant to the Gym Leader's monkey's only damaging attack, and while theirs can use Work Up to raise its Attack and Sp. Atk, you'll still be hitting for Super Effective damage with your own attack. It won't do a ton of damage unless you train your monkey, and it is hard to do that at this point in the game unless you're fighting a lot of Audino, but it should still be enough to take their monkey out without too much hassle. They'll also give you TM83 (Work Up), which — as you probably saw — raises the user's Attack and Sp. Atk by one stage! You can't just use TMs to freely restore PP, sorry! Now head out of the Gym and back to Striaton City. She has something that Prof. Juniper wanted to give you, so she takes you back to her house and then takes you upstairs. There's some weird contraption hooked up to a bed there. Yes, this sounds rather peculiar, but all becomes well when she gives you HM01 (Cut), which teaches your Pokemon Cut. Now that you have the Trio Badge, you can use it outside of battle, too. Woohoo!Juniper and asks you to find some Dream Mist for her in the Dreamyard. Hmm, odd. Anyway, she'll then just sort of leave you up there. Talk to the other girl in the room and she'll introduce herself as Amanita. She's a lot like the Bill, Lanette, and Bebe of the older generations.Well, on the northern part of Route 2, there's a shrub you can cut that leads you to a Super Potion and a Great Ball. That's kinda cool. But where you really want to check out is the Dreamyard. Yeah, you know you totally saw that shrub blocking your path earlier, so go heal your Pokemon and check it out, Trainer! They're now selling Great Balls, Super Potions, Escape Ropes, status healing items, and Repels.

As soon as you do, Bianca will come over and be amazed at the ruined place, but also have a suspicious feeling. After walking a little further, you'll hear something, and then walking even further will reveal one of those Munna things that Fennel was talking about earlier. They even kick it! Now it's time for you to kick some Team Plasma behind for your first time. One of them will start off by taking you on, showing a really cool Team Plasma intro scene. Gotta love that, as well as the epic music!Neither are too tough, but the Patrat can hit for a good chunk of damage. All of a sudden, though, Ghetsis shows up! And then. well, then another Ghetsis shows up.? Then he does some teleport thing and appears as one in front of the Munna, saying they should never harm Pokemon. That's enough to scare the socks off of those lowly Plasma goons, because they go running. Oddly enough, Ghetsis just disappears afterwards. It turns out it was just a dream. Fennel appears a few seconds later, saying what the Pokemon is. The two Pokemon leave, but leave behind the Dream Mist Fennel was looking for. She takes it and then says she'll be waiting for you back in her house. However, before you leave, there's a patch of grass that could use your attention, as well as some other stuff to explore. If you hear a rustling, like you're walking through grass when you're not, stop moving. Then, look around at all of the nearby patches of grass. Are any of them shaking suspiciously. If so, you're going to want to head directly to that shaking patch, because there's a rare Pokemon in there! Right along the border of it. Keep doing that, preferably with your volume up, and you should see some grass shake within a minute or two at the most. If you're not seeing it shake and have tried for several minutes, perhaps leave the area and come back later. A Parlyz Heal can be found over by the window on the right side of the building's remains.

Climb the stairs and walk over to the southwest to pick up a Potion. And if you go to the eastern side upstairs, you can get yourself a Repel.Move along, folks, move along.Talk to her and she'll be all excited, then will give you the awesomely cool C-Gear, which can be used to do various things.Amanita also gives you the Pal Pad afterwards, allowing you to exchange Friend Codes with other players and deal with them over the internet. Yeah, you can battle and trade with your friends online now!But if you're not looking to quickly interact with other players through all of its uses and you're just a casual player for now, you should press that little Power Off button in the bottom-right corner of the DS touch screen. It will help conserve your DS's battery life much more than if you had it on.It'll just be asking if you want to start the game with the DS wireless functions on, allowing the C Gear to interact with other nearby players and also receive updates if you're connected to Wi-Fi. It warns you that you shouldn't enable this on airplanes, in hospitals, or in other places where wireless transmissions are restricted. Hit Yes when continuing your game to proceed with it on or hit No and then Yes again (just confirming it) and you'll start with the C-Gear turned off. Again, this can help save battery life leaving it off if you have no interest in connecting with friends.Once in the gardens, head north onto Route 3! During the cutscene, you will see Professor Juniper leaving your house. Then we find your Trainer with one of two of your Rivals in the game, a young boy named Cheren. After a little dialogue between him and you, Bianca, your other rival, arrives. She has arrived for the same reason that you and Cheren are there: Juniper has left a gift for you and your two Rivals. You now must select your starter Pokemon. His Pokemon type will be at an advantage to yours. Get started with a FREE account.
