I am confident to use the hob surface for both cooking and, say, sitting a chopping board on at the same time (probably not ideal really). It cleans up nice and easily also. Operation is easy with the buttons well placed on the front of the unit. The boost button is very useful for getting pots of water to temp quickly. Although operation is easy it can be slow.The response time of the induction technology does mean that the pots do drop to lower temperatures very quickly, though.
