As most of us know Boss is not as cool as Line6 and does not have a user forum. The instructions are just so involved, like pealing an onion.BFD would be much easier to work with and i can't believe that it wouldn't sound better than the Boss unit--especially if you consider the processing flexibility. I have tried this with some Bill Bruford midi twiddly bits loops that I bought a while ago and I do have Reason but all the learning needed for this and the Dr. Rhythm is overwhelming and takes away from just playing my guitar.I don't mind the programing, there are 3 ways to do it with the 880.So this is what I was looking to reproduce - I played drums for 30 years but haven't a kit now and this is much less than a set of V-Drums. They were time consuming to program (if you were going for realism) but I didn't mind that so much. I know the software drums are the current thing and are the wave of the future but, call me a dinosaur, I still like having separate units for each task. I would much rather have a separate drum unit, keyboard, etc.I'll try and download the manual tonight as I am curious if it has USB that could be used for routing different drums to separate tracks on a DAW.But, if you want, you can re-post the question for forum feedback, just make sure not to mark it as a question.I would slave the HR off the SR via MIDI.It was also much easier for programming intricate little bits as well. Every time I was unclear on a particular point, it was like he anticipated it and, in the next 10 seconds, addressed that point. He also communicated his genuine appreciate for how cool a tool the DR-800 is. I can't recommend this DVD highly enough. I think it's saved me hours in getting up to speed. Even without having the Machine in front of me I was able to follow the instruction very closely and understood the training fully. The instruction is thorough and interesting. The instructor actually adds some life to the training (what could have been a boring and head-banging overload). He did a great job keeping me on track and interested throughout. I know I will be reviewing this DVD tutorial time and again until I've got this thing mastered. Great DVD, great price, and a can not do without, resource.
