At the present time it's on layaway till the middle of the month.But, I did find an online manual for the VC2110R, and it states that any external speaker cab used with it has have an impedance of 16 ohms. This is most uncool news to hear. The 2x12 cab I use with my Marshall is 8 oms, and I doubt very much that the 6x12 cab I have access to is 16 ohms. Also, does anybody know if this is a critical requirement (as in I might blow the output transformer of I don't use a 16 ohm external cab). I'd rather not have to get another speaker cab, just for this amp. That would be your best bet.

TBH I find it weird that it would be 16ohms as not any Crate amps I have ever owned or seen have been singularly 16 ohms. I have a 50 watt Vintage club that is a 2x12 that is loaded with 8ohm Swamp Thangs wired so that its running at 4ohms, I have a VFX50 that gives a choice between 8 and 16 that has been made into a head that I played through my VCthat I have wired up to run as a cabinet(I can flick a switch that cuts the speakers off from the VCs amplifier if I want to run it as a cabinet. VC2112R seems to use an 8 Ohm speaker, which means that it would use an 8 ohm cab. This is very odd. My Marshall is nothing like that. That head can run at 4, 8 or 16 ohms. The only reason I can figure that the Crate might require a 16 ohm load, is because it has some cheap, lame-o output transformer, that only has a tap for 16 ohms impedance. I hate this situation. Now that I'm in my 40s, it's been all but impossible to find one with people my age - it all blues and classic rock. Also, I've been out of circulation band-wise for too long (several years), which makes it even harder.I really like my 2110. I tried out a Crate Vintage Club 20 combo. I'd rather not have to get another speaker cab, just for this amp. The ryth will stay, new solos over the top and vocals. I had given mine away by then and it made me miss it. I wouldn't mind picking one up again. I really like my 2110. It was a real screamer. I gigged with it a number of times thru a Sovtek 2x12 vertical slant cab loaded with Emi GB12s. Sweet! He posted that clip and the very next day the VC's jumped in price. I lost both of them so I'll just keep an eye out.It seems the OT can handle a bit of mismatch. I am using my VC's speakers wired in parallel(4ohms) as a cabinet for my new V50 and its doing just fine.

I'm not touching anything if I can avoid lifting the PCB up. However, if I do have to remove the PCB to fix the input jack, now's the time to try alternatives. I don't know how to do TMB tonestack math, but the.01uf bypass cap looks potentially big and so does the 68K tone stack lift resistor. Overall, this looks like a nice, simple circuit. I never saw a TMB stack right before a concertina splitter before but it obviously works.
BTW the first thing I noticed looking at the chassis was that there's an unused hole for a tube socket. Inside, you can see all of the space on the PCB for the VC-2112 with reverb including labelled spots for the components. Plus, there's even a hole hidden under the faceplate for a Reverb pot. Anybody ever played the reverb version. I can take pics tomorrow if that will help sort out the input jack repair options. I'm glad there's no video of me trying to figure out how to remove the chassis. The bottom of the speaker baffle sits in a rabbit and there are four screws on the sides holding the baffle in. Unscrewing the chassis bolts on the back of the amp before removing the baffle is not a good idea. (I did figure that out before removing all 4.) Thanks in advance for any help. You may be able to lift the board just enough to resolder the connection without actually completely removing the board. The diodes are for flyback protection. They will prevent any negative signal excursions from appearing on the plate, mainly caused by wailing away with no speaker connected. I wouldn't mess with anything that's not broke. That Mid Boost switch is really wired as a SPST. That's a common way to draw a DPDT slideswitch. The horizontal lines next to the contacts are the sliders and they move left and right in that drawing. Is the actual switch a slider? It is certain that the first microSeconds of the spike will not couple across from one winding to the other, and the common silicon diodes take microSeconds to turn-on. Short overloads may not break down, but hold the voltage and eventually it breaks-down. The OT may be wound for 10,000 hours of easy playing, 100 hours of gross overdrive, and 1,000 hours with diodes clamping most of the peaks. Since this moves the failure from maybe-in-warranty to well out of warranty, and costs 20 cents, it is warranted. The tone control between driver and power tube grids makes a good amp bad. It is hard to drive power tube grids. You don't put loss here. Cleaner than the best tube amp, also lighter and cheaper.Just daydreaming again. Rather than check for the most obvious things first I canceled the listing and took it to be checked out. All tube 50 watt head, but the matching Joe Walsh 412 cab loaded with Celestion Vintage 30's per Joe's spec. Crate hired an amp Guru to design this great line that has been used in recording studios by Mark Knopfler. Bo Diddley, Joe Walsh and others. These amps have a beautiful clean sound. And an unmistakable old-school dirty side, with a dual reverb tank for reverb on either channel that has separate controls for adjustment for the needs of each channel. The amp channels are remote switchable, and the amp has an effects loop. This thing. more is the loudest 50 watter I have ever owned. But volume controls keep the sound true at lower volumes. The amp was just checked out at a famous shop here in town for the purpose of accurate and confident sale. My cost. The amp is about a 9 out of 10. With no torn Tolex, but a couple of minor rubs that you can see in the pictures, and the stiching of the leather handle(yes, opulant leather handle) is separating. Marshall has a similar handle for 15 bucks. I wanted to offer this in original condition. The matching speaker cab is loaded with factory spec Celestion Vintage 30's. And is a 16 ohm cab. No tears or snags in the grill, no torn Tolex and it comes with casters. The cab is about a 9.5 out of 10. The Celestions alone are worth hundreds. I will go one better. I have 4 Celestion Vintage 30's in 8 ohms that- for the buyer- I will install in the cab. Making the cab an 8 ohm cab, if the buyer decides.

I've owned this amp for close to twenty years now, and it has always been trouble free. I have a few other Vintage Club Heads that I've had since the mid-90s as well. I absolutely love the tone from these amps, but this one is extra and I need to move some stuff out. My loss, is your gain. This one comes with 4-EL84s in the Power-Amp and 4-12AX7s in the Preamp. I am unsure of which brand preamp tubes are in in the amp.
