The display can be slightly difficult to see and the night illumination could be a little brighter, but I'm overall very happy with the quality, price and comfort.It also has some features that are thoughtful. Others have mentioned the problem with the manual: Many pages for other models, and no explicit mention of this one! (Use the instructions for MD-FL298X.) This is really inexcusable. When you figure out that MD-FL298X is the right model to use, even then not all of the instructions are there. I'm not going to use the chronograph or alarm functions, so I'm not reviewing them. (I'll use my iPhone's Clock application instead: much easier interface!) Since the manual is so bad, I do fear for those needing to use the more-complex functions.It is pretty unique and I have not seen watches in this style before. The watch has a nice thick dark brown leather strap with a good heavy watch piece. I have to agree with the other reviews that the instructions are useless and was very grateful for the other reviewers on this page explaining how to set the time etc. (never realized how difficult setting the time and date on a watch could be!). Only slight warning is to be careful with the face, after a few months I have noticed some minor scratches on metal and glass watch face. The best part of the watch has been the number of compliments that I have received whilst wearing it. Overall, the best watch I have owned, and I would definitely consider Diesel watches again in the future.Definitely a conversation starter:-). I love it. Adjusting the time etc is a challenge though. The alarm on it isn't great, it's quite quiet so if you are using it to wake you up then you'd be better off using your phone or something. The stop watch is handy and I use it regularly. The backlight is clear and a nice green colour. I love this watch because it's very stylish and get's you noticed (it's massive so you can't really avoid it). Yesterday my strap broke after wearing it for about a year. Hopefully this is covered by the warranty. Replacement straps are about ?30 and they are not standard fitting straps so bear this in mind. I think that the watch looks a lot nicer in the real life than it does in the pictures and the quality is very good for the price. I have given the five star rating because of the overall quality, practicality and appearance of the product. The only fault I've found so far is in the provided instruction manual.
The instructions booklet is fairly thick but is a generic manual that covers several Diesel watch models in several different languages. That would be perfectly acceptable if it weren't for the fact that this model itself is not covered at all. So having fiddled for quite a while I have finally managed to work out how to set the time - here is what the Diesel manual doesn't (and really should) tell you. Instructions To Set The Time On The Diesel DZ7071 Watch Ok the first and most important thing to know about this watch is that it has an unusual timezone function (unusual to me at least). This allows the watch to display two different times. Time 1 (or T1) is the primary time (the time of the place where you spend most of your time!). The time can only be adjusted whilst the watch is in the T1 mode (T1 should be displayed in the bottom left corner of the screen). Holding down the top right button for one or two seconds will temporarily replace the current T1 time with the T2 time. Holding down this same button for several seconds will toggle the current time mode to T2 and the watch will continue to function in the second time zone until you toggle it back to T1. The second most important thing to know is that you can only set the time whilst in the T1 mode. To set a secondary timezone time you have to first toggle the watch to the secondary time zone mode (hold the top right button for several seconds and the T1 indicator should change to T2 (and the watch will now be displaying the time that is currently set for the secondary timezone). This time is based on the primary time by simply telling the watch a number of whole hours ahead or behind the primary time. Once set press the top left button again to return to the main time screen. Finally hold down the top right button for several seconds once more to return the watch to the T1 mode.
