Cheers Rubens See more Deep Blue Ventures 5 September at 03:24 Today was the last day of 3 weekends worth of long sessions in front. Some long hours doing presentations but ultimately, we were able to complete day 5 of the program today. Only the two days of in water session remaining before his Instructor Examination, so hoping this will not be too far away. Congrats to Sharky for achieving some awesome results so far under the strange classroom situation we find ourselves in.Making the Optima more streamlined than ever before. The upgrade come complete with all hoses and back mounted counterlungs. I can honestly say that with these latest upgrade, coupled with the previous upgrades to repackable canister and Shearwater controller, the Optima is now up there with the very best units for functionality, reliability and streamlining. If your in the market for a CCR, I would certainly consider an Optima.

Very much looking forward to taking this for a dive. Located near the manual addition valve, it also allows for easy connection of an off board oxygen source. Only one hose leaves the oxygen cylinder and plugs into the manifold mounted to the oxygen addition. A RG1350 right angle adapter must be used to route the solenoid hose up thru the slot with manual addition hose from the first stage. It is suggested to move the OP valve to the position of the solenoid hose to better protect it and install a port plug in vacant port. CAUTION: The EZ Solenoid Inline Shutoff adds one more failure point in the oxygen delivery system, which must be monitored. Divers should train on the use of the EZ Solenoid Inline Shutoff once configured correctly, by turning it on and verifying that it works while doing your system's checklist. In the water you should become familiar with and easily locate the OIV and operate it. Be sure it is configured to open in the same direction as the diluent isolation valve (DIV). A RG1350 right angle adapter must be used to route the solenoid hose up thru the slot with manual addition hose from the first stage. It is suggested to move the OP valve to the position of the solenoid hose to better protect it and install a port plug in vacant port. Using the quick disconnects while in-water to switch between on board and off board oxygen supply to the solenoid may risk introducing contamination to the solenoid and might cause a solenoid malfunction. The diver should close the slide valve, perform the switch, then operate the manual addition valve to clear the line as much as possible before opening the slide valve. Dive Rite recommends in-water switching of oxygen supply using the quick disconnects should only be performed as an emergency procedure. With an oxygen isolation valve (OIV), you can shut off the oxygen to the solenoid, still have the oxygen cylinder valve open and deliver oxygen manually to the counter lung.

http://www.uec.sk/images/data/byba-transmission-manual.xml

The hazard with the OIV is the possibility it will be accidentally closed. When closed, there will be no access to solenoid delivered oxygen if you fail to dive the rig manually. The electronics will try to automatically activate the solenoid, but will not deliver oxygen at a pre-programmed PO2 or fail-safe.20 PO2 should you fail to manually dive the rig because the solenoid’s source of oxygen will be closed by the OIV. CAUTION: The OIV adds one more failure point in the oxygen delivery system, which must be monitored. This valve has O-rings which like the diluent isolation valve, which must be maintained as you were trained. Please be sure all fittings are tight before diving the system. You should train on the use of the OIV once configured correctly, by turning it on and verifying that it works while doing your system's checklist. In the water you should become familiar with and easily locate the OIV and operate it. Be sure it is configured to open in the same direction as the diluent isolation valve (DIV). If the solenoid fails during a dive, expect a sudden increase in buoyancy and an elevated oxygen spike. Once the PO2 has stabilized, open the cylinder oxygen valve slowly and monitor your displays for oxygen PO2 and pressure. If the PO2 and pressure remain stable or are slowly dropping, continue the dive on manual control. If the failure is the manual inflation valve (located on the counter lung), then disconnect the quick disconnect fitting and OPEN the OIV for solenoid delivery of oxygen. Always monitor the PO2 carefully. Again monitor the PO2 carefully as the quick disconnect could also be the failure point. Be sure to conduct the same recovery protocol on the diluent side. If the buoyancy was caused by a diluent system failure, the PO2 will abruptly spike downward. It may not display this or other websites correctly. You should upgrade or use an alternative browser. Unique in the rebreather marketplace, the O2ptima is specifically designed for the rigors of cave diving where immediate surfacing is not possible. The resulting features are also highly desirable for wreck and deep ocean divers. Two water traps in the loop along with horizontal, behind-the-head positioning of the scrubber canister create a difficult path for water to travel. An even greater advantage is gained by using Micropore Extend Air scrubber cartridges, which do not contain dust. It is the dust that reacts quickly with water to form a caustic cocktail. This also allows the O2ptima to have smaller diameter loop hoses, which minimizes jaw fatigue. Hoses, regulators and tanks are kept neatly streamlined and away from potential snags inside a wreck or cave. Counterlungs include diluent and oxygen manual addition valves. An over pressurization drain valve is located on the exhalation counterlung. The O2ptima counterlungs are covered in tear-resistant Rhinotec. ( 6 liter set available on request) The oxygen injection has an independent control board and long lasting 9 volt battery with a detachable Petrel controller. This unit has its own control board and long lasting 1.5 volt power supply, all contained in its own seperate housing. The HUD has seperate LED's for each oxygen cell, color blind mode and red buddy warning light. Located on the inhalation counterlung, the ADV includes an in-line shutoff in case of free flow. So does it come with a Petrel DC and does it come with a canister or a granular scrubber to start with or do I need to order some of those also The scrubber material does not come with this unit but you will be able to use either granular or cartridges with this unit. Your length of time has several variables associated with it, such as, breathing rate, body physiology etc. Dive Rite has baseline test information in the O2ptima manual here How often does is need to be serviced. How long are they warrantied for. The unit requires annual service just like a standard regulator. They have a one year manufacturer warranty from Dive Rite. We will make every effort to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov We take our job seriously. You may have noticed that our products now show a warning label at point of sale referring to carcinogens and birth defects. You may also have begun to see warnings related to carcinogenic substances or substances causing birth defects prominently displayed in hotel lobbies, hospitals, or other places of business recently. These warnings are required by the State of California, and we believe that an explanation of the California statute legislating the requirement will provide you valuable information regarding the relative risks of the chemicals that may be present in consumer products. Prop 65 requires businesses like ours to disclose to individuals the presence of chemicals listed in the Act prior to point of sale. The regulations implementing this Act have been amended over time with the most recent updates will take effect on August 30, 2018.

There are more than 900 chemicals on the Prop 65 Chemical List, including many chemicals that are found in components of a wide array of consumer goods or are used to manufacture components that make up consumer goods. A similar process is used to establish safe harbor levels for listed reproductive toxicants. Additional information in plain language on safe harbor levels is available from the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment at We go to great effort to select materials that offer superior value, quality, and durability while also being generally recognized as safe and reliable for the full life of the product. Dive Right In Scuba also works closely with many regulatory bodies, such as the US Coast Guard and Underwriter’s Laboratories, to ensure the longevity of your on-water safety through targeted selection of durable, long lasting materials and components that undergo significant validation testing before being used to manufacture end items. Sometimes the safety promise we offer appears at odds with the health and safety requirements of other legislation in certain parts of the world when some regulations are updated ahead of others. To ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements, Dive Right In Scuba has placed a warning on products that contain a Prop 65 listed chemical, either directly or as a part of the raw material supply chain. This allows us to comply with California law and provide our California consumers with the disclosure required by Prop 65, while still promising the safest on water experience possible. Water is a precious resource we all share that is important to the health and well-being of our planet and all people. Our goal is to continue to enhance your water life experience while reducing our overall impact to the planet and, in particular, its waterways. While it is a bit of a juggling act to achieve, we are confident you will see continued improvement in both the immediate and long term future.

We hope this explanation will enable you to understand why you will be seeing warnings on some our products. It may not display this or other websites correctly. You should upgrade or use an alternative browser. I will be listing all of his gear in the near future so if you need anything keep looking for my posts. This was originally purchased around 2007 and was at the time when the first delrin handsets came out. It has been sitting in a closet for several years. The last visual inspection on the tanks was in 2012. Needless to say, I would recommend a complete checkup on the entire rig. I built it and did the checks just for a sales purpose. I am a certifed Optima diver, BTW, and did some of my training with this diver and this Optima. The only failure was the mushroom valves and they are in need of replacement. The first stages hold IP, The pos and neg tests held good, the pressure test of the gas lines held, the manual adds worked and did not stick, the ADV worked, the shutoffs worked, the bladder inflates and holds, both handsets read the cells, the HUD works and vibrates too. The sensors are dead and the mushroom valves leak. Everything else checked out fine. Many of the parts have been replaced over the years but the original parts are included too. It is equipped with a Nomad harness. A 4th cell fisher cable is already installed if you want to use it. A shearwater Predator is availble but not included. All tanks are out of hydro and VIP. This is an excellent opportunity for a new diver to get into a rebreather at a very affordable price and also acquire a small fortune in all the spare parts too. I will not be entertaining low-ball offers since there is no need or hurry to sell this. Almost forgot, the primary handset has had the screen upgraded to OLED but the original one and instructions are included if you want to switch back. With several other changes recently the O2ptima should now feature in any divers list of CCRs to consider.

This incredibly abrasion resistant material makes living with the rebreather easy. As a person who regularly has to dive from boatlift, abuse, bash and drag rebreathers around, its these covers that keep the unit looking good and components damage free. Even if your O2ptima becomes rather ratty looking by crawling into too many wrecks season after season, a quick inexpensive cover change and you’re back to looking good. Dive Rite from time to time, notify users via the active O2ptima User facebook group of when they are doing new cover runs and can personalise it for you. I must confess to succumbing to a little self indulgence on that point. Add a couple of tanks and your good to go. Tanks are not included, simply because the international regulations in many countries concerning cylinders mean that divers should always prefer to source locally to avoid hassle come hydro test or fill time. Both have fitted OPV’s with the oxygen side having a special detuned version. Solenoid failure may be handled by the isolator located on the manual add feed of the counter lung in any instance. A steel stand is at the heart of the unit and provides a very stable platform in which the tanks, canister and hose work reside.Dive Rite are currently testing packable scrubber designs for times that you may find yourself in remote locations and unable to source the Extendair. This is not something to be taken lightly and whilst many proponents of back mounted counterlungs like the lack of clutter at the front of the harness, the laws of gas physics cannot be denied and the O2ptima design will always provide a fantastic breathing experience in a variety of orientations. A Bail out valve solution in the form of the Shrimp which Dive Rite supply directly. However, for those who simply prefer a DSV, the O2ptimas is a great friction fit, excellent breathing and easy to operate choice. Although this was superseded with the Rev D handsets, these were not without problems.

In particular, users’ reports included major power issues and the sheer behemoth size of the wrist handset to be a real turn off among other issues. The Petrel is arguably the best dive computer in the world at present and the implementation on the O2ptima is outstanding. One control Bus connected to the Petrel and other monitor bus to the HUD. These can be moved to wherever in the rig the user chooses. Since I am running 4 ltr tanks there is little room inside the fabric cover. Were I running 2 ltr tanks then I would consider re-positioning them inside the cover for a tidy finish, but they are durable and well protected. A cell that falls behind or ahead the others is immediately seen by the diver. At the end of the HUD is a buddy light as well that pulses red in the event that the diver may need assistance as PO2 has fallen out of range. They do have a knack to using then and they are currently being revised for an easier to operate solution and will be updated shortly. It is however very rare that you have to go into the HUD to change settings, other than for calibration which is simple enough. A system that works very well indeed. Two inbuilt trim weight pockets sit on the outside allowing the diver to just get it perfect depending on the suit type used. The XT CCR Wing was designed for the O2ptima and it shows, with a perfect fit and lift placement. Personally, I am used to seeing 1 LED cycle through 3 cells so this was an interesting difference to note. This is a tremendous factor for me when selecting a weapon for choice for a dive trip overseas, I always make sure to read a 360fly review when ever I am traveling so that I have a camera to take with me, specially when I rent houses for my vacations, I always end up having the best views.

The CCR breaks down quite easily, with a head carried safely in my hand luggage, the remainder is rugged enough to get put into a dive bag, special for those days of camping; however, everyone knows that when camping there are other equipment that is necessary, but that can be found at the Survival Cooking site. It should not be forgotten that Dive Rite started as a small Florida based dive company and it’s kept those same great traditional service values over the years. Users are sometimes taken back that if they email, sometimes you’ll get a response from Lamar or Jared themselves with practical advice. That’s not to be underestimated for the average diver who has limited leisure time and intends to make one purchase of a rebreather to last years to come. This squarely places the O2ptima in the lower price range as most other technical level CCRs, but with a unique design and features which are quite special. Bookmark the permalink.
