Trouble Appliances CAUTION The output of the inverter is non-sinusoidal.When using the Duracell Powerpack to operate an AC appliance and the low battery warning sounds, the warning gives you time to shut your AC appliance off before loss of AC power. If this occurs, unplug the 12 V DC appliance. Ensure that the jump-starting power switch is OFF. Allow the Duracell Powerpack to cool down for at least 3 minutes after each jump-start. Proper way to store a lead acid battery is to keep in cool dry location, and top off charge each month or two by charging according to manufacturer guidelines. 0 out of 5 stars Unless I left it somewhere, of course or it was in use. I started another car with it today and engine turned over a lot of times before it started. I have started many cars with it. Especially this winter since it has been below zero - many mornings 20 below - for nearly 2 months which is great battery testing weather and lots of batteries fail the test. I used it on my rider lawn mower for a couple of summers because the mower battery wouldn't charge and if it went dead while I was mowing the blades will kick out of gear. I mow a bunch of lawns. I just clipped this on the battery and it provided the power to keep the magnetic blade clutch engaged and for starting. Finally got around to fixing starting system. This thing made me ignore problem for a long time. One car it didn't start right away was my wife's. She left the lights on. Usually on automatic but they were turned on manually. The battery was stone dead. I put the booster on and starter clicked and that was it. The car (HHR) has something in that makes so it won't do anything unless it has a lot of juice in the battery. Pretty stupid I think. Anyway I put the booster on and left it for at least half an hour and went out and tried. Lo and behold booster had charged the battery enough so it started right up. I really don't know why it mattered if the battery was stone dead when the booster is hooked onto the cables. It takes a long time (probably 10 minutes) to pump up a big tire but it is still faster than changing the tire to get to the tire shop. If the problem is anymore than a very slow leak forget it. I live in an apartment building and lots of people know about this thing so it gets lots of use both for tires and starting cars. Wish the price hadn't gone up so much.I originally had a great Xantrex unit with appearance and specs similar to this one.
It served me well for years before I replaced it with this Duracell model, which was just as good and seemed to be of the same design and manufacture. For me, the features of this model make it an indispensable piece of equipment and a good value. It's a powerful jump-starter that starts 4-cylinder and larger engines effortlessly. The compressor is a must-have for topping off tire pressure. The mini LED flashlight, which charges in a cradle an detaches for normal use, works very well. Unlike my old Xantrex unit with its built-in incandescent lamp, this design makes it difficult or impossible to damage the Powerpack by accidentally draining it with the light. Finally, there's a power inverter with a standard 120V outlet that comes in handy for powering or charging various devices. You can charge the battery at home with the external AC adapter or on the road with the car adapter. If left plugged in, the battery will maintain charge and won't overcharge. It holds a good charge for months, but should be topped off after use or every 3 months to keep it in good condition. If you do that and avoid draining it flat, it should last for a very long time. Personally, I just don't feel properly equipped without having this useful and dependable product in the trunk of the car. UPDATE: The product I now officially recommend is It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the Duracell, but it's exceptionally good at one thing: starting your engine. I took the cost savings and invested it in a much better air compressor than the cheap one that's integrated into the Duracell. The main reason to choose the Duracell over the JNC would be if you need the inverter to power things that need a 120V wall outlet.Flashlight: There is an attached flashlight using LED lights. You are better off getting a separate flashlight but, if you keep this compressor in your car for emergencies, the flashlight will get the job done. Not very durable.
Cracked easily when it popped free and rolled around in the trunk of my SUV. Compressor: The compressor is very noisy, fills very slowly and, in truth, could not reach the levels I desired. I used this on camping trips to power the gadgets of todays technological world. The powerpack was able to last for several days with moderate use. UNFORTUNATELY, its jump starting abilities plainly, are weak. I cannot imagine any six cylinder vehicles being started by this as we could not get a four cylinder started. We tried a replacement unit but ended with the same results. It takes away the main point of having this item. I missed charging it 3 months. Driving around for two hours charging by DC to bypass the safety circuits on the AC would not produce any results. Conclusion I am disappointed with this product greatly. The main reason behind it is non-functional and all the accessories are half-produced. You are better off buying quality products that do those specific functions then getting the cheap attempts combined on this unit.
