I have seen much smaller bases with much bigger remotes. The thick cord in back always caused this thing to flip on its side which ruined the purpose of holding the remote in its body, the holder barely held it because it had no sides to lock it in place. River Media Center (jrmediacenter.com) as my theater media software. Since this remote can be customized so that each button simply replicates a keyboard button combination, I simply went through and setup every button to act as it should. It works amazingly well. I removed all applications from the Keyspan Map Editor and just kept my main program and then exported the configuration settings to save. Now I can use the same settings because I have backed them up. Cons: The line of sight range is the only issue. However, I plan on setting it up with my universal remote, which has a much more powerful IR emitter. I did test it a bit and it seems to work even better. My major and last issue is that the remote seems to stop Windows XP from entering standby. Ideally, Windows would enter standby after 10 minutes and then wakeup when a button was pushed. This way, my home theater pc doesn't have to waste power nor does it have to be manually turned on and off. Overall Review: I just purchased four more of these. I plan on adding more viewing stations in other rooms around the house. The best part is that if all the home theater pc's have the same remote and receiver, we won't have too much trouble with remotes. We'll just have a bunch of the same ones.
