The V300 has enough memory to store 30 different golf courses, record 100 scorecards, and track the golf shot locations for up to 100 rounds. With the Sonocaddie V300, you can change the course information on the go to suit your own preferences so you will always be playing with the most accurate and up-to-date distances. Select a range from 5 miles to 50 miles, and all courses within the area will be displayed. The nearest course will be on top of the list. (NOTE: If a course is not displayed, it is not in your Sonocaddie V350 Unit.Y ou must select a COURSE and a HOLE first. Then, SCORECARD function a nd REFERENCE POINT function ca n be used. (Note: This function can only be activated when there is GPS reception.) Th ere are two methods for you to search y our course fro m available courses preloaded i n the device: 1. By Country: All the course s are listed by country. Y ou can find your course by selecting “Country”, “State” and “City”. Press “ SEARCH” button after every selection, then you will see all the availab le courses within the area. 2. By History: Previous play will automatically add to COURSE L IST s orted by history. This funct ion can memorize the last 30 courses. Important! The “Auto-Hole” feature then aut omatically advances the device to t he next hole when you fini sh a hole and enter the next tee box. Note that Auto-Hole can be set to off from the Settings screen (see Chapter 3.1). 4.3 Understan ding the Hole- Layout and Hole-Info Screens After selecting the first hole, the “HOLE-LA YOUT” screen below appea rs displayi ng distances to ta rgets on a full-color, graphical view of the actual hole. The distances constantly change as you move a nd a “W alking Golfer” symbol also m oves to show your actual location o n the hole. In addition, a second “HOLE-INFO” screen is available with the sam e distance information except it shows the tar gets on the hole withou t the layout view. T o access the “Hole-Info” screen, select “MORE” with the right soft key and “INFO.” There are 15 dif ferent icons (or targets) available for this screen.
Note t hat the T o return to the Hole-Layout screen, select “MORE and “LA YOUT” with the right soft key. Also selectin g “GREEN” with the left so ft key displays the fu ll green. Important: If a Color Layout for a specific course is not yet available from Sonocaddie, the device displays the “ Hole-Info” scr een by default. To remove the So nocaddie, press the button on top of the clip down and slide Sonocaddie up ward out of the clip. You ca n also attach the clip to different things, such as a golf bag. T ip: Hitting any key on the device turns on the screen backlight fe ature on for easier viewing. 5.1 V iew the Green Close -Up The Green Close-up view displays a full putting green and provides five distance readings for each green. It shows the distance to the front, cent er and back of the green. In addition, the center reading automatically chang es to show an approximate distance to a short and long pin location. T o access this screen, select “GREEN” with the left soft key. T o return, press “FULL” with the left soft key or the “Escape” key. T ip: T o stop the auto-scrolling feature, press the up or dow n button on the 5-w ay key. Then press either key again to scroll the ball manually to find your ideal spot.

T o turn Auto T rack on, go to the “SETTINGS” screen, scroll down to “AUTO TRACK”, and choose “ON” with the left-right 5-way key. T o set the interval period for re cording your position, scroll down to “TRACK INTER V AL”, choose the desired interval, and then press “SA V E” with the right soft key to save these settings. Once you select a course to play and Sonocaddie begin s to receive satellite signals, Auto T rack immediately star ts recording your route on the Hole-La youts. The devi ce stores up to 1 00 rounds, ho wever, it can only store one round per day. Important: Selecting dif ferent intervals for Auto T rack will affect the r ecording time for a r ound. There are two ways to access this fe ature. The quic kest way is to press “MARK” with the bottom button on the front panel soft key of the Sonocaddie V350 Series, or select “MARK” from the “MAIN” screen. Important: T o use “Mark”, you must be on the course and the Sonocaddie must have satelli te reception. T o measure your shot, stand near wh ere you hit your ball and press the “M ARK” button and the Mark screen below appears.
Press “ST AR T” with the right soft key and proceed to your ball. The distance displays “0” a nd changes as you move. Y ou do not have to travel in a straight line to the ball since the device always measures the distance from the starting position to your current lo cation in straight line. When you reach the ball, press “END” to lock the number and see the actual distance of the shot. T o measure anothe r shot, press “ST AR T” ag ain. Press the left soft key or t he Escape key to return to the previous screen. The “NORMAL” scorecard record s your strokes only by hole an d provides a total for th e front nine (out), back nine (in) and 18-hole round. The “PRO” scorecard records your strokes, putts, fairways hit, and sand saves by hole. The Pro Score card also gives you a full analysis of your round. Both scorecards automatically display the “Par” (P) for whatever hole you are playing. The Normal scorecard is the default. Press the “SCORECARD” but ton on the le ft side of t he Sonocaddie V350 Series and t he Normal scorecard below appears. Scroll acro ss to the “Strokes” column (S) with the left-right 5-way key and use the To make the Pr o scorecard yo ur default, g o to the “MAIN” screen, select “SETTINGS”, scroll down the list to “SCORECARD”, choose “PRO” with the left-right 5-way ke y, and press “SAVE” with the right soft key. T o view the Edit Screen, select “MORE” with the right soft key and “EDIT.” Each target s hown on a hol e was recorded on a blank Edit Screen. Each row has three GPS locations to record a target (left side, fairway, and right side) and there can only be one target per row. There is one GPS target location for the front of the green and one for the back. Note that the green center is actually calculated by Sonocaddie ba sed on the rec orded fro nt and back points. Each g reen has two ad ditional gree n-side targets to display a vis ual marker. These do not give a distance read ing, nor do they appear on the If you need to correct a distance reading or want to change a given tar get on the hole while playing, simply follow the edit pro cess below. Hole-Layout Screen Hole-Info Scr een Edit Screen wit h Targets Blank Edit Screen Important: To use the Edit feature, you must be on the course and the Sonoc addie should have good satellite reception (six or more satellites). Step 1: Select “MORE” with the right soft key and then select “EDIT” to view the E dit Screen. Step 2: Stand at the target on the c ourse that you want to correct or update. Using the 5-w ay key, scroll to and highlight the sp ecific target icon on the Edit Scr een that you ar e correcting or updating. Note the target distance rea ding may disappear when you are stan ding within 5 yards of the tar get.
Step 3: Press “SELECT” with the right soft key to access the “Target Icon” scree n. Scroll to the icon you want to recor d for that hole (refer bac k to Chapter 4.3 for icon d efinitions). If you are correcting a distance reading, select the sam e icon that you selected previou sly on the Edit Screen. If you are cha nging the ta rget, select a new icon whic h is more appropriate. Important: Befor e pr essing “Record”, be sur e you stand still for five seconds at the t arget location so the Sonocaddie can pin-po int that position. After St e p 4: Press “RECORD” with th e right soft key to insert the icon on the Edit Screen an d update this position permanently in your Sonocaddie V350 Series. The distance immediately changes to a “0” reading. If it does not, stand still and press “Record” again from the sam e position. T ip: T o make r eading di stanc es on Hole -Layout or Hole-Info scr eens easier, be sur e to record t argets on the Edit Screen in the same order they appear on the hole. Also if you ad d a new t arget to a r ow that already has one, the old target will disappear from the scr een and the new one will appear instead. 6.4 Delete a Targe t on a Hole If you don’t want a specific tar get that has been recorded on a hole, deleting i t is sim ple and you don’t have to be on the course. From any hole on the Sonocaddie V350 Se ries, se lect “MORE” with the right soft key and “EDIT” to view the Edit Screen. Scroll to and select the T arget Icon you want to delete. Whe n the “Icon Screen” a ppears, select the “Delete” icon and press the right soft key. The tar get disappears from the hole. After the “Delete Course?” confirm ation screen appears, select “YES” with the right soft key to confirm, or “NO” with the left soft key t o go back. Sel ecting “YES” permanently deletes all th e course information and targets for that course. Select a course, press “MORE” with the right s oft key and select “RENAME” from the pop-up list.
Use the 5-way After renaming the course, select “RECORD” with the right soft key to save the changes. 7.3 Create a New Course Creating a new course map work s just like the edit process in Chapter 6.2, except the Ed it Screen is blank when y ou start. By following t he steps below, you can creat e your own c ustom l ayout for any hole on a new cou rse. Y ou can only view a new course using the “Hole-In fo” screen and you must be on the course to map the tar gets. 7.3.1 Nam e the New Co urse T o create a new course, selec t “MY COURSE” from the “MAIN” screen and press “MORE” with the right soft key and select “N EW” from the pop-up list to view the keyboard screen. Enter a new course name using the 5-way key to scroll th e keyboard When you are finished, press “RECORD” to sa ve the name. After you save the new c ourse name, the “Sel ect Hole” screen immediately appears. The ne w course name also automatically a ppe ars on your co urse list. 7.3.2 Map the Targe ts on the New Course Mapping a new course wi th the Sonoca ddie V350 Series is easy. Simply repeat the following steps each time you want t o add a target t o a hole for a new course. Step 1: Press “SELECT” with the right soft key for the hole you are mapping an d then select “EDIT.” Step 2: Stand at the target you want to add on the hole. Use the 5 -way key to scr oll and highlig ht an empty location on th e Edit Screen where you want to record the new target. You can record one target Scroll to t he icon you want t o add for t hat hole and highlig ht it. (Re fer to Chapter 4.3 for Icon definitions ) St e p 4: Press “RECORD” with th e right soft key to insert the target icon on the Edit Screen and permanently add this GPS target position to the hole. The icon no w appears on the Hole-I nfo screen a nd the distance to this location chan ges as you move around the course.
Important: Befor e pr essing “Record”, be sur e you stand still for five seconds at the refer ence point location so the Sono caddie can pin-point that position. After you select record, the dist ance reading immediately changes to “0” to accurately record this location. Move to the back of the green, select the back green position, and press “RECORD” again. The de vice automatically calculates th e center location based on the front and back locati ons. T o add a green-side icon (which do es not provide dist ance information), scroll to either green-side location, press “SELECT” to view the I con Screen, choose the icon you want to display and press “RECORD” to insert it. Green Front Green Back Green-Side Scro ll down to the information you want to view and press th e right soft key. You can even edit your scores from this screen after a round in exactly th e same way you did during a round. If you used the Pro Sco recard, you can also view a full analysis of y our round by selecting Note below how the track views change depending on what feature you used. From th e “Main” screen select “RECORD”, scroll down the list to the one you want to delete, and press “DE LETE” with the right soft key. When th e pop-up screen appears, select “DELETE” to delete the selected item or “DELETE ALL” to delete the entire list. When the “Delete both track a nd scorecar d?” confirm ation scre en appears, select “YES” with the right soft key to confirm, or “NO” with the left soft key to go back. Important: Selecting “YES” deletes both the scorec ard(s) a nd track(s ) fro m the Sonoc addie V350 Series. 8.2 Use the V350 Series Software to Review Information. W ith the V350 Software on y our computer, you can view the same inform ation that is stored in the device or upl oad the i nformation t o MyFol der to review anyt ime, even wit hout your device.
